Please add prayer for our youngest son Robert L. Keyes. He was attacked last night on his way home in Spokane, WA. It was a robbery as they took his wallet. They were not satisfied with just money so they beat him and stomped him. His eye sockets are fractured, nose broke & swelled shut, with other injuries. He will be having surgery in the morning. :cry

Latest news on this family emergancy.
Our son Robert was attacked and badly beaten. He has serious injuries including: broken nose, sinus cavity injuries, fractured eye sockets, and a head injury, along with bruising all over his body. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. Belinda and I are asking for your prayers and if you’re a member of a church, to include him on the church’s prayer chain. As of 8:30PM tonight we have been advised that a neurosurgeon has stopped the discharge of him for the evening. He will likely be transferred to another hospital. That is all we know at this time. 8:30PM PST
Thanks,
Gary H. Price

Latest news as of this morning. He has a spinal fluid leak between his brain and sinus cavity. The sinus bones are broke there along with all the other injuries. he is now in ICU. A medical aircraft maybe flying him from Spokane to Seattle for brain surgery.
My wife talked to the Spokane police. They said because our son is not able to explain the attack and describe his attackers they will drop the case. My wife told them that they would not, that they need to get out there to the bar he left and see if the employees remember anyone leaving with him, or seemed to be following him, or paid attention to him that evening. Talk about laziness. We are expecting a call back from the LT. incharge of that police section.

Gary, he is added to my prayer list. I also pray that the police see the error of their ways and continue to follow up on this case.

Gary, I wonder if the Spokane PD has ever heard the old saying about getting a mama bear angry.
Don't want to mess with the mama bear when the cub is in danger.
Hope the docs at Harbor View will get Robert fixed up with no problems.
Praying for the Lord's Peace for Belinda and you.

As you know, Robert was walking home late and decided to shortcut through an old parking lot. He had been out drinking and was an easy target. Dark secluded area, and he was drunk or at least feeling good. Easy to catch off guard. A group surprised him and beat him until he blacked out. They took his wallet with $100 in it. I guess they didn't totally search him as they missed his blackberry/cell phone. They left him for dead. The Spokane police are working the case but don't have much to go on. He was seen at two different hospitals in Spokane, WA. It was decided that he need the Harborview Trauma Center in Seattle. So they flew him on a medical jet from Spokane to Boeing Field in Seattle, WA. The flight cost $8,000 and took one hour. Because his injuries were all head area and he had spinal fluid leakage into his sinus and out his nose the flight had to be kept very low because they could not pressurize the aircraft for fear of causing brain damage. The flight was rough as they had to fly just above the Cascade Mountain tops. This is about what Robert flew on: www.americanairambulance.com/He is in lots of pain and will have surgery on his face Tuesday to repair his facial bones and broken nose. The spinal fluid has stopped leaking and he can now breath through his nose. That’s a good thing. We all know that when the police do a great job and catch the guilty ones then the courts and lawyers have let's make a deal. They forget about the victims in the court rooms. Belinda and I sent two nights and three days in Seattle at the Hospital. Last night I dropped Belinda and Robert’s girlfriend of at the Holiday Inn’s front lobby door and it was late. I had to park way out back and it was dark. I looked around and there was nobody so I got out of the car and locked it. Kept the keypad with the panic button in my left hand and kept my right hand free. I had a plan and was not going to become a crime victim. All of a sudden two men came out from between two parked vehicles and headed toward me. I did not hear any vehicle doors close so I figured this was an ambush. They made eye contact with me and headed straight toward me. At that point I lifted my shirt up over my gun and holster and unsnapped the safety snap that holds the gun in the holster and put my hand around the hand grip and finger on the trigger. My hand movement and unsnapping sound of the holster they seemed to identify with. They quickly changed direction and ran from the parking lot. Had they not left, and continued to press me, I would have drawn my gun pointed it and yelled, “Back off or I will shoot!” I would have activated the cars panic alarm at that point. I’m glad it turned out the way it did. I have a weapons carry permit but rarely carry my handgun. But from now on whenever I go to Seattle or Tacoma my gun goes with me. BTW, The Spokane Police told Belinda they were dropping the case cause they had nothing to go on. Robert blacked out and could not describe anyone. Belinda told the detective “No you won’t, you will look for leads!” She then went on and said they need to go to the bar and restaurant where he was the night just before that attack and check with the employees to see who was there and who might have followed him out. She then told them they will put this attack on Spokane’s crime stoppers. They agreed. :thanks for all your prayers, they helped last night in that dark hotel back parking lot. :salute :thanks

Prayers, still going on for you and the young man.................. BTW, hope that there is a round in the chamber so you don't have to pull the slide back or to cock the hammer to put a round in the chamber... Nice thing about my blackhawk SA- carry it halfcocked, it has a safety block... The noise that it makes going full cocked is pretty loud in the dark

Jim, I keep the first chamber empty. Have to pull trigger or cock first. Two or three months ago I was getting it off a high shelf in our walk in closet when it fell to the floor. All I could think was, "Oh $hit don't hit the hammer and cause it to fire off a round an kill me. I think the safe thing is to have that chamber empty.
On old friend of mine I used to elk & deer hunt with retired and went to work at the county jail. they lived in a split-level home. One day he put his weapon on the ledge along the stairway for a few seconds. When he reached for it he knocked it off the ledge and it fell to the bottom of the landing and fire off a round. The round just missed one of his daughters at the top of the stairs. You must always be thinking safety with a firearm.
