Those of you that couldn't attend this year's reunion missed a really great presentation put on by Bobski and Ken Wigden.... I got to renew friendships with 2 27thth FIS pilots that I had first met in Jun of 1956 and was stationed with them until I left Loring in Dec 1963. One of them was the pilot that gave me my taxi checkout rides in the F-94C, the Deuce and the Six. There were 5 other 27th pilots there that I knew from Griffiss/Loring. I was the only enlisted troop from the 27th. Dick Stultz of Tazmangalian fame had 2 new Six Patches and has quite a few left. www.linkedin.com/pub/dick-stultz/37/68a/266 5019 Sunrise Hills Drive Fair Oaks, CA 95628

No need to downsize photos for the website photo gallery. Lots and lots and lots of space for photos.

All F106 Troops, Thanks to Ralph for sharing this online website link below to view a few hundred photos from the 2015 Reunion. Thanks again Ralph and see you all in Tennessee 2017! Bobski These were pictures I took while at the reunion. In particular the picture of the couple standing in front of the Garden of the Gods wanted to see at least that one. Feel free to share with anyone who wants to see them.

A message from Bobski on the F-106 All Troops Reunion pictures - Pat P.
All F106 Troops, Well I've finally got quite a collection of F106 and related photos together and have gotten them down to 16 Gigabytes! There are over 5600 photos and videos! I have been compiling this collection for several years. I decided to bin them in general file folder categories such as Aircraft, reunions, events etc.. We would like to thank all of the photo contributors who have provided us with unbelievable photos! A lot of them have recently come from Facebook. Some of the contributors are: Bill Chesnut Abe Newman M. Ross Shulmister Chuck Lehrman Frank Doerr Scruggs Ken Wigton Dave Stiteler Larry Perkins Laverne (Bear) Bruhn (deceased) Pat McGee Pat Perry, Bob Kwiecinski Plus many more whose names I can't remember right now! Due to the volume of photos and editing times and also because I didn't get the story behind them they are mostly un-captioned. I cannot apologize for that because I don't have the time required to take on such a task. Anyone is welcome to do so if they like! Our F106 All Troops Reunion Committee decided to make them available as a small fund raiser for $10. That includes a 16 GB USB memory stick (over 5600 photos and videos) that is playable on a PC and other display devices that can read the photo files. Also this includes the shipping mailer and postage. The only way you can get the stick is by sending your $10 payment in advance to: David Stiteler 42668 Royal Lane Clinton Township, MI 48038 Please include your complete postal mailing address, phone number and $10 check made out to DAVE STITELER. I will ship the stick to you in a reasonable time period. We believe that these photos will bring back many memories to each one of you! Aim High, Bobski
Next Reunion will be in Nashville, TN in 2017

Even though it's over a year away I'm kind of excited about possibly going to this one in Nashville.

The only thing that holds me back is my wife's and my own inabilities and the hopes that they won't get any worse by then. I know it doesn't take a lot physical ability to go but even so I am a realist.

This is a tribute to Bob Justus [RIP] who created the 456th FIS website that now resides in the F-106 website thanks to Patrick McGee. And to Erv Smalley [RIP] who lived in Colorado Springs and whose website is also now part of the F-106 website. This is also a tribute to Russ Greenberg, 456th pilot, who attended the 2015 Reunion at Colorado Springs and who helped the 456th FIS fly 106 sorties on Aug 11, 1967. www.456fis.org
This story starts with this article on George Welch and Kenneth Taylor who together shot down 6 Japanese invaders at Pearl Harbor. www.thisdayinaviation.com/12-october-1954/
Bob Justus traced the former Commanding Officers of the 456th Fighter Squadron back to WWII with the help of Stan Wood who was in that 456th Fighter Squadron. www.456fis.org/HISTORY_OF_THE_SQUADRON.htm
This page described the history of the 414th Fighter Group www.7thfighter.com/414thfg/index.htm
This is the Bio on Kenneth Taylor the first CO of the 456th Fighter Squadron in 414th Fighter Group assigned to Iwo Jima in July 1945. It follows Ken’s career from Pearl Harbor to his last assignment in Alaska as a Brig Gen and includes his son’s bio, Brig Gen Kenneth Taylor, Jr. www.456fis.org/BIO_GENERAL_KEN_TAYLOR.htm
I tracked down Kenneth Taylor after he retired and was still living in Alaska. I wanted to invite him to a 456th Reunion but I lost track of him and later found out he was living in AZ. Several years later I tracked down his son Jr. and I was considering having a 456th Reunion in Tucson just so his Dad could attend. Jr was also retired as a Brig gen and was glad to receive the call. He said his Dad never understood why so many people looked upon him as a hero of WWII and said Dad had moved from Alaska and was in a nursing home in AZ where Jr lived. Several weeks later his Dad died.
While we never got to meet Kenneth Taylor I find it ironic that the first CO of the 456th and the last CO, John C. Marcotte, were both fighter pilots and heroes in WWII. www.456fis.org/BIO._JOHN_MARCOTTE.htm
This past week in Colorado Springs was a real memory maker. We had a great turnout and will have a lot of pictures to share in the next few weeks. Bobski and Ken Wigton did a great job as co-chairs of the Reunion Committee and had a lot of help from a lot of volunteers to host this reunion.
More Later, Pat P.
We finally have a quick (5:58) mini-documentary on the 2 P-40B Warhawks that got airborne during the attack on Pearl Harbor and scored multiple kills. Flown by Ken Taylor and George Welch they were able to attack Japanese aircraft of the second attack wave.
view in full screen
Thanks to my buddies Preston Davis and Jim Walther for sending this.
Pat P.
