That is the air park. It looks like they took over the old fighter squadron area and ramp. My son-in-law, 2 granddaughters, & I stopped for a vist as they were having an old car & motorcycle show also. It was very good. I've been to the museum before. Museums entrance. Old Police Car: F-101 B-17 inside museum hanger:

I'm near Dover AFB now visiting my daughters family. This weekend I'll visit the museum and check on the six's condition. I remember someone made a comment that the last time they saw it, it didn't look good.

Wasn't as well kept as some I'd seen. The fact sheet handout seemed to have some errors. But kudos to them for saving it from the scrap heap. Not sure I liked seeing the MATS markings on the T-33 at the entrance. Weren't the T-33s maintained by the FIS everywhere? Even when we were tenant?

I've been trying to get a trip out to Dover for some time and would love to see what she looks like now. Mark

Mark: Will try to get back and take some. Am close enough to do that. Bull: Is the B-17 "Shoo Shoo Baby"? If so I thought they sent it to Wright-Pat. It was restored at Dover on the MAC side. Beautiful job too.

I was there yesterday and took 6 photos plus a few of the F-101. The also have a new flight simulateot hooked up to a big wide screen TV. I flew a T-33 around for awhile and made a landing at the Dover AFB runway. It had rudder foot pedals also. The guy said that they had almost 100 aircraft loaded in it to fly. I asked to fly an OV-10 Bronco but that one was not loaded.
I'm still near Dover AFB and will be home in a few days. I'll post the pictures then. :fire_missle_ani

I just got back from visiting my son at Ellsworth. He's with the 28th Bomb Wing (B-1s). One morning we went over to the base museum. Frankly I wasn't all that impressed and was about to cut it short when way back in the back I saw an F-106 simulator with a sign that said, "Visitors May Sit In the Cockpit at Their Own Risk". Well it didn't take any coaxing to get me up the ladder. Hmmm... there used to be a lot more room in here. It was missing some key components like the 080 (radar scope), and the AVVI, but a good 80% complete. So for the next 10 minutes my son got a data dump on all he ever probably didn't want to know about a Six; but he perked up when I told him about the Six's role as chase plane for the B-1 at Edwards.

Arrived back home and very tired. Very rough flight at times. Anyway in a day or three I'll post some pics of the Dover Six plus some pics I took at the Air & Space Museum at Dullas Airport.

This is the Dover Museum "Six" last week. In my opinion it looked pretty good, except for a little bit of paint pealing off the top of the radar dome. More pic's later.

She looks pretty "tricked out" to me. IR head popped, scope in the cockpit, wheels on the ground ready to roll. I may have to slide over to Dover one of these days and check em out.

This is the Dover Museum's F-106 taken in mid October 2011. Does it look better? It looks okay except for one thing. In my mind anyway. Why can't they get the anti-glare, black paint correct forward of the windscreen as it curves down toward the bottom of the radome? I know it sounds trivial, but that's not how they were painted! Mark Is this the difference you refer to? www.f-106deltadart.com/27fis.htm This one of the first 10 a/c that I painted in 1960 and the anti glare is as it came from Convair.... The angle of attack transducer was always in the gray....... I forget which T.O. listed all of the decalpositions and specification, but the same one gave the specifics on applying the anti-glare using a string, a pencil and a certain rivet to get the proper arc....... Without the T.O. what they have looks pretty good...........
