Here is the latest on 043 from Glenn Blackaby, the Dakota Territory Air Museum Curator.
The assembly will take place in one of their hangers, so they can work all Winter.
Most of the work crews are locals, with some from the base.
Now that 043 is at the Museum, I'm sure the assemblers will be starting soon.
I hope to be able to make it to the dedication, and will invite all Spittin' Kittens to be there, as well as any other Sixers who desire to be there.

Hi Jim,
Late last night the rest of the load (fuselage, nose cone etc.) came in on the second truck. We unloaded it this morning – so it’s all here. The 106 crew is chomping at the bit to get started on the wing assembly. It will take all winter to complete the project (assembly, prep work and painting). As to the dedication, I talked to Don Larson (President of the Board) and he said they will begin to consider the right time to do that once the project is complete. The 106 crew will also be re-painting our T-33 this winter. Our F-15 was completed this spring. The plan is to pour concrete pads outside for the three aircraft that are to have 5th FIS markings (the T-33, F-106 and the F-15). They are going to place them on the pads next to each other. Once that is done, then we could have a dedication ceremony. I hope this gives you an idea where things stand. We hope to see you when we have a dedication ceremony.
Sincerely,
Glenn Blackaby
DTAM Curator

I received a note from Glenn Blackaby at the DTAM this morning, and am posting it below.
Jim Too ----------------------------
Good morning Jim,
I would like to tell you that a date has been set for the dedication, however, that’s still undetermined. I’m waiting to hear from our project leader whether there has been some development that might help us project a possible date. I will let you know as soon as I hear something. I do know they were shooting for some time in June. Recently I heard from our board president that we may have to delay until the Fall – based on the fact we’re waiting on a construction company to pour the concrete pads. They have such a busy schedule that we may not get our pads as soon as we want. We’re looking forward to having you all stop by and visit us when you can. I hope it works out that you all can be here for the dedication.

I got to see the restored 043 in it's Spitten Kittens scheme. (Bear would be proud) The paint job had several deficiencies ie; a lot of the safety warnings are missing, the font and color for the US Air Force are not quite right, But they were rushing to get to get it done for there grand opening. Over all she looks good and mostly complete. I let them know that I'm still upset that they got her when we were also trying to get her for the Wings over the Rockies Museum at old Lowery AFB. Over all they have a very nice museum and a great collection of flyable WWII war birds. Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted

After visiting the Dakota Territory Air Museum, we stopped and visited some cousins in Sioux Falls, then I wanted to stop at the Mid America Air Museum at Sioux City, IA and pay my respects at the Col. Bud Day memorial before heading home. And if any of you haven't read the book "American Patriot" about Col. Day, you should and you will understand why he is admired even by his fellow MOH recipients.
