We are back home now after almost a month traveling around Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, & Italy). The C-17 flight from McChord to Ramstein was very good. The travel home was a bit different. It was Sunday at the Ramstein Inn and No posted flights to McChord. Tuesday was the Patriot Express a contract flight into Baltimore (BWI). I was told that there was a C-17 mission to McChord on Friday that would show up on the 72 hour posted schedule. As missions get cancelled, rerouted, changed, or delayed by maintenance Belinda and I chose to take the Patriot Express if enough seats released. Well, 78 seats released and we were 73 & 74 and there were a few that did not make the flight. Once at BWI and the USO we made a hotel for the night and airline tickets for the next morning on Alaska Airlines into Seattle. That Friday mission never posted and I think it was moved up a day to Thursday as I see one posted now.
The thing that was touching and impressed me was that after we all passed customs and walked out of baggage claim there was a line of people thanking us for our service and welcoming us home, active duty and us retirees and handing us goodie bags with bottled water, chips, & candy in it. I remember getting off the jet in LA on December First 1971 after basic and I saw none of that, and I know my cousin Robert who was a U.S. Marine who faught in Vietnam's Tet Offesive never got a welcome home. Have lots too catch up on so maybe post more later.

Well, we got home yesterday morning after catching the 0600hrs earlybird flight out of KC into Seattle arriving at about 0830hrs. On the drive home we it rain and a windshield wiper rubber failed. Stopped at walmart and got a replacement and a spare as I was wondering when the other wiper would fall apart. Later on we stopped at the military commissary and stocked up on our home needs. Plus Belinda needed things for her annual open house Christmas Party.
Got home and our dog was very happy to see us after 10 days. Our house-sitter takes good care of our cat and dog when we take trips. We got home about noon and picked up our mail,,, of course there were bills in it. Last night while printing out our Christmas letter the my printer failed. Went through the troubleshooting info and did it all. Last item was, "If this does not fix it then replace it." I've had it for years and its done very well all these years.
Just had my Hawaiian Coffee so will share a few photos Belinda took on our flight. I gave her the window seat and while I was asleep she took a dozen or more pictures and I share a few I think are good.,,,,,

Woke up this morning at 0414hrs , but I went to bed at 2100hrs last night. That internal clock all most never lets me get more than 7 hours sleep.
A bit chilly this morning so I have a fire in the wood stove.
Yesterday I was at the bank getting a bank check for some traffic ticket last year in Italy for driving in a restricted area. I don't recall any restricted area signs and was never stopped. Their notice says to visit this internet site to see the picture. So I've went there 1/2 dozen times and no picture will show. I've sent them a registered letter weeks ago and they have not responded. This all sounds like BS to me, but a ticket is a ticket and I should pay it. Went and made arrangements for a check and now learned I can only pay with a bank transfer. So this morning requires another 20 minute drive to the bank and work out a bank transfer to Italy. Belinda and I spent 12 gays in Italy and spent thousands of Euro's for hotels, food, tours, gas, etc. That does not include what we spent in Germany, Austria, & Switzerland. Italy can kiss my butt, likely will never return even if Military Space-A opens up again. Seems these days there is always some BS to deal with. I'm sort of getting sick of long trips, and we have seen lots of Europe anyway. Time to see more of the USA. Now is the time to visit family, relatives, and friends after things calm down.

Gary if you are not going back, and you sent a Registered letter asking clarification then you have done your best. They probably won't go any further than the letter you got. They have no enforcement unless you go back. Same thing happened to me at Spangdahlem AB GE. I was attending NCO Academy at Kapon Barracks and when returning back from home visit one weekend I got pulled over in what I thought was credentials check, but the policeman told me I was speeding. On autobahn in rural area. There were no speed limits as I had traveled this same road many times. But Germans set up speed traps by posting speed limit signs and then put multiple cars for weekend sweep. I waited on paperwork to arrive at my home at Spang and didn't receive it prior to returning to States. A couple months later my father in law, who was Chief of CBPO at Spang called and asked bout it. I told him I never got any paperwork and as far as I was concerned I was no longer in their jurisdiction. A few weeks later my First Shirt called and said he got letter from Spang (my father in law) and asked for his assistance in settling the fine. Yes, I was never a favorite of my father in law. He was a 30 year E-8 and was pissed because he knew my rebel approach to things and I made Chief at 20. Anyway my First Shirt had also recently returned from Germany and told me he "forgot" where the paper work was, he also said unless I went back to Germany they had no means of collecting. Even though my father in law was "assisting them." The next time father in law called I asked if he got a thrill out of sending the "Bad" info on me to my Chain of Command. I also told him I had no intention of paying for a speed trap. Lorin

Well Loren, I was at the bank today and did a bank transfer for 143 euro. Then I got home and drafted them a nasty letter the was translated into Italian. I told then we were in Italy almost two weeks and spent thousands of euro's in Italy. That this ticket and the way its been handled without location or photo of restricted area stinks, very poor on evidence and does not sound Legal. I added the my wife wants another trip to Italy to visit the places we missed, but I'd never spend another vacation or euros in your country. We have been to Hawaii a dozen times, at least 5 between England and Germany, several trips to Alaska. So its time to see more of the USA.

Leavenworth, reminds me of a TDY I took from Spangdahlem AB GE back in 1979. I was official escort for two base Airmen who were caught each with a kilo of hashish. Both received 3 years at Leavenworth. Upon arrival I was relieved of custody and was given a guided tour of facility. I sure would not want to be assigned there. After tour I watched as my 2 guys were processed in. First thing was strip search and water bath from big hose. It was like Basic arrival with all the screaming and yelling. I was provided routine up dates on prisoners. A quick history. The first guy was huge, ex Sky Cop. Second was little runt type from Avionics Inst Shop. One would think big guy might have troubles, but he was released early (12 months) for good behavior. The little guy was busted several times for "touching" guard. Each carried additional 6 months. Then he tried to escape and got 3 more years. He was finally released with Bad Conduct (For prison actions). Life gives more than it takes if you try. While talking to guards I learned that prisoners who attack guards are immediately transferred across town to real Leavenworth, not the Military prison, but the hard timer Federal Prison. Guard said they average about 5 or more deaths a week at Fed site. Mostly violent fights.
"USP Leavenworth, a civilian facility, is the oldest of three major prisons built on federal land in Leavenworth County, Kansas. It is separate from, but often confused with, the United States Disciplinary Barracks (USDB), a military facility located on the adjacent Fort Leavenworth army base. Located 4 miles (6.4 km) north of the USP, the USDB is the sole maximum-security penal facility for the entire United States Military. "
So will Nancy P get her second Impeachment in a year? That's not a record I would want to be associated with. Lorin

[/quote]Nice article. However, sounds like you are voting with the House. You need to watch that video again ( the one you say Trump incited the riot)...

Jim, I did listen and watch some, not all, of Trump and friends speeches. Both Rudy and Don Jr "Incited" the crowd. Trump urged crowd to go to Capital. I do not believe Impeachment is in order, as I didn't last year. But his actions were too much too late. I also believe he should have had a "Face the Nation" White House speech to both his supporters and opposition...The American People. He should urge unity and work for the country, but not for the Socialist Nation. He has tarnished a great and productive Term. He will not be remembered as the guy who got things done, but as the sore loser. Several Fox people said they reviewed most, if not all of the court challenges. The big takeaway was the legal briefs did not include any evidence to match the Talking points provided to American people. More politics and I believes than see the evidence. It is now time for GOP to regroup, find a new leader and work to end Dem majority in 2022. But until then we have to keep the big three GOP RINO Senators from Maine Alaska and Utah from working with the enemy... Woops, working with Opposition. Can't continue the rhetoric of "fight, demand and destroy" (Dem words). It's back to the pen and ink to all of my Ohio members of Congress to work for the American people, not the Socialist Nation. Just really disappointed that the two GA Dem Senator's are worth the $500 million spent in their election. Lorin

I wouldn't expect Space-A soon. Too many active duty, essential types, have not yet been vaccinated yet. So allowing retirees to fly would require many safeguards to make it happen. Maybe mandatory Vaccine cards. When you get vaccinated you get MLSA-319813_R covid-19 Vaccination Record Card from CDC. Many Hospital Appointments (Tests) require a fresh COVID Test prior to getting tested. Maybe even so far as Quarantine prior to travel, and return???
So far this last week we have had measurable amounts of snow 5 of 7 days. I have used my snow blower 4 times and did neighborhood sidewalks and all of my drive and sidewalks. Biggest snowfall was 7 inch and that was a heavy snow so I was extremely tired after finishing. Took over an hour. Gas jumped from $2.39 to $2.69 overnight. News says a result of Texas weather, but our refineries are in mid-west/east coast. Lorin

This I believe was on the Ramstein AMC Space-a schedule page.
