I'm new to the site but flew the F-106 at Griffiss AFB from 1970-1973 and instructed at 2nd FITS at Tyndall from 1973-1976. While at Tyndall was one of a couple doing a couple weeks of High altitude intercepts on a supersonic Bomarc missle in the 80's (simulating the Foxbat). We wore a full pressure suit and acheived alts during intercept into the 70's. Also high speed low alt. supersonic intercepts on F-111. We ran them down with tanks on the F-106. Melted the total air temp probe off partially on one flight. Lots of memories. Any other old farts out there?

Hi Steve, glad to have you on board. Ref the Bomarc flights. What was the setup and what weapons were used. It sounds like you were at co-altitude, but to use the AIMs you would have had to be in front of it. Did one Six firing two AIM-4s every down one? I know around the same time frame, Mig-25s were flying out of Egypt. Israeli F-4s had no success, however the Shaw of Iraq got some Bomarcs and his F-14As with the Phoenix put an end to that nonsense. As an MA-1 weenie, we just have to know the mission profile and was it successful. Most people don't believe our stories, since they are second hand. Thanks, Jack
