I still have and regularly use an old program called Lviewpro. It's a small footprint, semi-standalone, 32-bit app that runs on all version of Windows including 64bit Win7 machines. The version I use is from 2001 and it is still the best little photo compressing tool I've ever found. Just by opening a digital cam photo and then clicking Save compresses the jpg's while maintaining great web resolutions. And you can open multiple photos and run built-in batch scripts to compress them all at once. It can take a typical 3-4MB dig cam photo down to 3-400KB. I still use all my other tools for lots of things, but when I just need to compress file size this is quick, easy and works great. I'm more than happy to zip it up and send to anyone who wants it.

This greeting card was sent to all 456th FIS members in 1964. The photo was taken by Capt Charles "Chuck" Anonsen from an F-106B while a flight of four F-106A aircraft were making various formation flights over Lake Tahoe. Chuck's son Eric sent me the card which was scanned as a Season's Greeting to the members of the F-106 Forum.
The card was scanned at 600 pixels per inch using color restoration setting as the original was color faded after 48 years. It was then reduced in size to fit the less than 1 meg requirement for uploads.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Over the last ten years I have posted a lot of photo albums that I kept on WebShots.com. Since WebShots no longer exists this is what all those album pictures look like now that the albums are gone. Grrrr! I was able to download all my 106 albums pictures but lost all the captions I spent hours typing. This totally pissed me off at American Greetings who bought WebShots years ago and recently sold it back to the two guys who founded it. The two guys have opened a new site called smile.webshots.com/ and transferred all my 5000 pictures in a unorganised, uncaptioned mess that no longer feeds the links to the F-106 Forum. The Smile site will now be a "cloud" server that allows you to share your pictures individually with your friends one email address at a time. They plan to make other changes to the programming in the next few months to expand the features so I'll hang around with them to see what develops. They had a good business model going at WebShots and I think the two founders who bought it back realize that they'll need to replicate a lot of the features that had users uploading over a million pictures a day and site visits in the tens of millions per day. That's a lot of "eyeballs" and ad sales. Oh well, over 665,000 folks viewed my albums over the years so I guess they made a few bucks off them and my annual fees. Pat P. ok i give up how can i add photos to this mess. Bill, Another hosting site is www.webshots.com. They offer a free and a premium membership. I have used them for years and have over 5000 pictures there with over 300,000 views. You can link to a picture at web shots from this forum. Here's an example. Small: Medium: Large: You can click on them and go to the album on webshots. If I can do it, I know you can. Cheers, Pat Perry 456th FIS

Several months ago I was complaining that when you clicked on a picture uploaded to our Forum it took you away from the "100 most recent posts page" to show the larger view of the picture. Then if you clicked the BACK button it took 15-20 seconds to reload the 100 posts page.
That was an irritant if a lot of uploaded pictures were recently posted.
But I stumbled on a shortcut that I should have known about long ago. From Internet Explorer 8.0 onward, there was a "Tab" feature in the browsers. I found that you could right mouse the link for the uploaded picture and select "Open in new tab" and in no time a new tab popped up and the picture was big for better viewing. But even better, you could click the original tab you were using and the "100 posts" page was right there instantly.
Taught me a lesson that whenever you load a new program it's better to read the tutorial and learn how it works rather than to just start pushing buttons.
See screen shot below.

Technology is just like taking the wife for a ride in the country. She will ask if you are lost when you hesitate at an cross road. Just remember rule #1, you are not lost if you still have gas left.
From the aspect of technology, most directions available for new technology are impossible to understand. My motto is, if someone was smart enough to make it work, it should be self evident to operate and all of us can work it from day 1. If not, it was a poor design.

Release Notes, install instructions, User Manuals and Guides never contain what a person really needs. KISS is not a method anyone uses anymore and it drives me crazy. And that goes for operating software as well as instructing others to operate it... just make it simple, easy, self evident so there is a minimal learning curve.

Lots of photos are missing. I've never had that happen I don't think. I have all my photos (most all anyway) scanned into an external drive. Pictures I see that others have posted on I've seen on military sights I have also saved. They are all filed in detailed folders. This everyone should enjoy:

Posting pictures on the Internet has changed significantly since MOW posted this on Apr 12, 2012. Somehow, he has responded to all these changes in: - software operating systems and applications changes - Internet operations - picture hosting applications - computing devices evolution - social media evolution - etc. and has managed to make the www.f-106deltadart.com/the number one source of F-106 information on the Internet. His photo albums at www.f-106deltadart.com/piwigo/are separate from the pictures added to the F-106 Forum at forum.f-106deltadart.com/so that the 12,000 pictures at Piwigo are permanent on the main F-106 website. The F-106 Forum using the ProBoards application uses the imgbb program to store pictures. Pat McGee has also found pictures we never would have found by being active on FaceBook, Instagram, etc. and posting pictures by F-106ers who never knew about his main website and the F-106 Forum. I bring this up because: 1- We owe a great deal of thanks to Pat McGee for all he has done the past 20 years for F-106 fliers & fixers. 2- To tell you that if you go here www.f-106deltadart.com/piwigo/and click on recent photos you will see the latest picture adds he has made to Piwigo on the main F-106 website. It's a fast way to see what's new and some of the pictures will surprise you. 3- The F-106 Forum is very active with Users Online in the Last 24 Hours 5 Staff, 9 Members, 147 Guests who don't log in. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all, Pat P.

Did you know the F-106 website has tens of thousands of pictures, videos, and stories stored here: www.f-106deltadart.com/piwigo/You can spend days looking for Sixes you worked on or flew and you can add personal F-106 pictures that have not been seen by others because they have been sitting in your closet for 50 years. There is also a search box where you can enter a tail number like 572456 and see all the pictures of that aircraft. Or type in Reunions and you can see all the Reunion pictures and videos we have. Members of this F-106 Forum are also looking at F-106 Group pages on FaceBook. We are helping answer questions by referencing links to the F-106 website and finding pictures and stories that can be added to: www.f-106deltadart.com/and to the F-106 Forum at: forum.f-106deltadart.com/Check it out!
