Gene, take a trip to Winthrup, WA They have a great Hot Air Balloon ride down the Methow river valley.
My wife and I spent a 4 day weekend there once at the Sun Mountian Lodge. Did the balloon ride one day and the next did a river float trip in a zodiac rubber raft. Both trips were if I remember correctly under $125 but that was about 4 years ago.
All that is left on my flight list is the Space Shuttle, not much chance of that getting completed.

Flying the Canyon & mountians. The city of Lauhie Nice beach with nobody around. Our resort, The Hilton Beach resort. We were in the building on the left close to the water. Took this photo on day as the biplane flew past the Hilton.

Located a few pic's of our Balloon flight. Filling Balloon. Filled and ready for flight. Floating down the valley Another floating pic with the top of wife's hair in bottom. Over the River and past the woods. Maybe next picture will be grandma's house. Looking up inflight as hot air is put in balloon to maintain our altitude. You can see the flame if look closely. Some of us in here likely have enough hot air to fill a balloon like this, don't ya think? ;D

3 1/2 maybe 4 hours. We had birds of pray glide past to check us over. Floated over deer beded down. Just listened to the quiet air go past the ropes. It was my wife and I, an elderly couple, and our guide. Guides wife followed in a pick up vehicle. On thing I didn't care for was the elderly couple liked to hear themselves talk. A few times I felt like saying "Shut the hell up!'. But I was nice. Next day we we had signed up for a whitewater float trip down the river. My wife and I were the only ones to sign up. It was us and the guide. The guide only talked when we asked a question. And he got a good tip after the trip. It was very peaceful. The sound of the breeze in the leaves, water over the rocks, sounds of the birds, and the motion of the raft. Perfect. Sun Mountian Resort sets on the mountian over looking the valley. You can sit in a hot tub and see for miles & miles. We were there for 4 days. Great

We don't call it a vacation. It was more like a 4 day get away. Just to relax and get a short break.

I just got back from my annual hunting trip with my buddies on the eastern slopes of the cascade mountians. I had a good time, and it was a get-away for me. Six days of elk, deer, bear, and cougar hunting. The views from the mountians are always grand. Dam, this mountian is tall. At 9,000 feet. I'm getting to old for this crap! As an answer to your question. A vacation is an extended period of time away from home where 1/2 of our trip is just spent just doing nothing like in playing in the Hilton resort's pool and siping MyTie's under the straw umbrellas. We have done trips before when we were on the go just about everyday and came back tired. Always stay lone enough to have 1/2 the days doing nothing. Need relaxing time. As you can see I got some relaxing time while on hunting trip.
