Black bart you are right. There was a cabin air timer. Last night after i retired for the night,i started going thru my mental F-106a(B)-2-6 and lo and behold there it was! The timer did not turn the refer system off ,what it did was cycle the cabin pressure regulator and dump valve to the dump position for a few seconds to purge the cockpit of fumes from the misiles firing. The regulator was located on the aft canopy bulk head, and believe me when it went into the dump position it took only a couple o seconds to clear the cockpit. I did it a couple of times while doing a PE cabin pressure check, and the first time scared the living $hit out of me i thought i blew the cockpit up, Hope this clears it up for everyone.

Good catch biendhoa! I forgot all about the cpr/dump valve. Boy, if that thing hung open it would suck the wax right out of your ears! Pat P.
