On July 3, 2008 a friend and I visited 57-0230 at the Florida Air National Guard Unit on Jacksonville International Airport. 230 is located inside a secured area so you need a Military ID, DD 217, or sweet talk the gate guard to get near the aircraft. We did the latter and were only allowed 5 minutes on the base. We got a few photos of 230 that are not very good but I'll post them anyway. A T33, F102 and F15 are also displayed. The address of the Florida ANG is: 14300 Fang Dr Jacksonville, FL 32218 (904) 741-7100 If you google map this address you'll find 230's location

It looks strange to see 57-230 in any other colors than the Red Bull of the 87th FIS. She was a proud member of our squadron and at least she escaped the target range or the salvage process. She is only one of two from the 87th to survive. The other is 59-086 out at the Pacific Air Museum.

wmh131, Those are some pretty good pics for such an overcast day and you being on a hi-speed mission to capture them! That's worth a positive hit on the old karma button. The old girl could use a repaint job with clear coat on top. Those UV rays can really fade a paint job in that Florida sun. Thanks for the pictures. Pat P. 456th FIS
