Pat,
The most recent 40 list differs depending on how I am logged in! I get one version logged in as guest and a different version logged in as myself (wmh131).

Bill Hi Bill, The reason you get different lists is because two of the forums (Anything Goes and Jokes, Jokes, Jokes) are "member only" forums. If you don't log in you won't be able to see them. Bill Hi Bill & Mark, No, I stay logged on as permanent so I never have to log in or out. I have swapped emails with Pat McGee describing the problem I had when my initial new thread post (Games of skill...) never showed up on the Last 50 posts list. It may have just been one of those random flukes or may be related to some recent software updates that were done on the host server by the vendor. I imagine some minor problems sometimes result when software updates are done that never showed up during testing. We're just trying to gather some data to see if there might be a problem. Thanks for your observations and questions! Pat P. Edit: At first we thought it may have been a part of the change from Last 30 to Last 50 Posts. That's why it is now set at Last 40 Posts to see if the problem changes. Will keep you posted. If anyone else notices any unexplained or new problems, let us know. THANKS! |

I had posted something right after you guys mentioned the issue of new posts not showing up and mine posted up almost right away. However, since several of you had seen this problem I changed 50 to 40 to see what will happen. We'll leave it at 40 and just monitor it. Let me know what you all see.

Pat Hi Pat Mc, Just in case I failed to mention it, that initial post of mine that never showed up on the "Last 50 posts" was the first post of a new tread I started called (Games of skill...). Next time I have the need to start a new thread I'll watch to see what happens with the initial post. The system seems to accept newly added post replies to an existing thread with no problems. However, I have noted that when I recycle back to the page to make sure the post got there OK it does show up as a new post but takes several minutes before it gets added to the Last 40 posts page. This is not a problem but it is a little slower than before they added the software update to the server. I've noticed it works faster sometimes, presumably if there is lower traffic on the server at that time. It may be slower because we set to the Last 50 pages (now 40) and it just takes a little more CPU time to fetch a page to show when traffic is heavy. Looks good for now - thanks for all your help. Raise a green bottle or two for us while your enjoying things in PI. Pat P. |
