Don't remember his name. Should have put names on back of pic. I believe he was a Vietnamese (SP) Captain. He aced all his exams and beat me out. I finished at 99%

Well, Adart, it looks like you have the same problem with pictures some of the rest of us have.
Unless we show our grand-children the "old" pictures, from when we were really "young", they wonder who the young man in the picture is.
Then don't believe you, when you tell them it is you.
Oh, well!
Hope the aches from your Iowa Ice Fall are going away.

While I was assigned as an instructor in Flight Simulator school at Chanute, we had a lot of foreign military students assigned. I remember we almost had a Political incident when an Iranian NCO and a black USAF Airmen were troubleshooting together and Iranian went off on Airman. I broke them up and asked what was the issue...The Iranian NCO said he was Iranian and not Turkish...Then the airman said I called him a Turkey, not Turkish. After explaining the difference, the Iranian was OK with it. While in Germany at Spangdahlem we were training Israel Air Force pilots on F-4 Simulator. I visited Hahn AB, about 30 miles away and they were training Egyptian pilots. I found out from our Instructor pilots that they coordinated with Hahn to schedule flight times so they weren't flying at same time. The Egyptians were also restricted to base so they didn't come to Spang and run into Israel pilots. It seemed strange that we would provide aircraft and training to both sides in conflicts. Iranians also had a lot of F-4, but that was back under Shaw and not radicials. Lorin

It seemed strange that we would provide aircraft and training to both sides in conflicts. Iranians also had a lot of F-4, but that was back under Shaw and not radicials. Lorin Lorin, at least since WW2, we have supplied equipment to our "enemies", even though we called them our "friends".
Look at all the "Lend Lease" stuff we sent to the USSR, which in turn was used against us, or our allies, during the Cold War.
If one of our planes, which we were not giving to them, like a B-29, should happen to land in their territory, they kept it.
They remained "neutral" in the Pacific War until just before it ended, and, like Switzerland, impounded any Allied Airplanes which happened to land in their territory, or ships that may seek one of their ports in an emergency.
Some of the crews have never been accounted for.
Then they reverse engineered it and made their own version of the B-29, and called it a TU-4.
I wonder how many of the planes, tanks and other stuff we gave to the Iran, Iraq and other places, have been used against us or Israel in the last 50 years.
We also gave lots of stuff to Communist China, and continue to do so.
We never seen to learn.

Attachment DeletedGene, this what I got when I clicked on add attachment- it took me to my pictures, I clicked on this and then clicked on Open or Save , I don't remember, it took me back to the forum, it loaded and I clicked on insert and done. Try putting your photos in documents or pictures where you can be directed to that section when you click on Add Attachment. If I can navigate this, it should be really easy for anybody else. I don't know why you see that error message or why it worked for you Gene. I did nothing to it. I did download Jim's photo and just re-uploaded it without error. I will look into it further

I guess you missed the main part of the time of flight. The normal time of flight was 6 sec. The enemy bomber would not even have time to react to a minimum time of flight attack. The escape procedure for the F-106 after deploying MB-1 was to do snap roll and pull max G pull to get started on turning away from blast. The six would then ride the shock wave away from blast like a giant surf board. Most pilots figured it was a last ditch hope to not be part of blast. Probably a good thing the six never fired a live MB-1 Genie. Lorin

I don't think it would have bothered the six, that lumbering old F-89 survived the live firing!!!!!!!

The whole purpose of adding the "Add Image to Post" plugin was to avoid using the "Add Attachment" button so photos were not saved in the forums allotted space in File Storage. Soon I will be going through that File Storage and cleaning out attachments because we are at 450MB of 500MB allowed.
The "Add Image to Post" does not fill this File Storage up as it saves photos to a cloud that is not counted against space allocation. So, we should continue try this first and if it remains a problem, which I have not actually seen myself yet, keep letting me know so I can keep checking.
