Who remembers the NORAD radar sites? Many were isolated and often out or the way like the one at Neah Bay Washington State located on a Mt top at Cape Flatterly. Pic's below from a fishing trip last week. Site has been decommissiond years ago. Radar dome still stands !

Remember them..... you bet, when I was a kid in Benton PA, there was one on Red Rock mountain, about 12 miles from town, we use to go up there to use the BX and Commissary. My dad tried for 22 out of 27 years to get stationed there. He did make it until he retired, Mom is from around that area. Funny thing is I worked there for 7 years as a Residential Adviser (Military Dorm) for Job Corps after I retired. there is only one radar now used by the FAA, the other 3 domes were torn down some time in the 80's

This NORAD Radar Site had a nice set of billiting rooms that did not get used that much. Many fisherman from McChord AFB used to go out to Neah Bay fishing for days and rent the billiting rooms during fishing season for a few bucks a night. Now that I go out there fishing the place is closed. Local Motel rooms (poor ones) go for $80-$90 a night. My boat sleeps 3 so I now sleep on the boat, as the marina has been compeletely rebuildt by the Indian Tribe with wash rooms, bathrooms, and two showers. A shower cost 50 cents so the hell with a $90 hotel room. The radar dome still stands guard as a reminder of the cold war and the missions of ADC & NORAD.

The en.wikipedia.org seems to be the only hot part of the link. We were part of Homeland Security way back when. Pat Perry 456th FIS

Pat Perry 456th FIS Ah yes the SAGE bldg, remember it well, Hancock Field used it as the CBPO and Cop shop, other parts of the bldg were OFF limits. I was only at Hancock for about 7 Months working T-33's, then they moved the personnel and aircraft to the Griff.
