Does anyone know what happened to NASA's F-106 they flew? I have seen pictures of it in some of the F-106 books.

Back around '72 NASA had a 6 at Selfridge ANGB, MI that was a tri motor. It had a small experimental jet engine under each wing. I was at Langly in '88 during an open house and they had a NASA 6 there as a static display. The guy manning the static display told me that that was the 6 from SANGB that used to be a tri motor and was now involved in a project where they flew it into thunderstorms to have lightning strike it for some kind of research. I forget what the tail # was. I have no idea of its final fate.

NASA donated the naked (no paint) "B" model to the Hampton Air and Space Museum. It was hit by lightning over 200 times.
The one that was cut in half in known as the F-53 Delta Dart. Black Bart
