Just thought I'd start a new thread so everyone can show each other how young they used to be! This was me in my Civil Air Patrol uniform. (Note the Challenger's beret - I wasn't a cop but sure thought that beret was cool!)
Anyway, that was taken at McChord in 1982. I'm sitting in 56-0466 and for the life of me I can't remember that Major's name right now. This is an old scan so one day I'll have to rescan it with a better resolution.
**EDIT - His name was Major Owens. Just remembered!**
Love those 'Skeeter wings' on your sleeve Bullhunter! Wish I had that pic of me wearing my US Army version. Ours pointed down though! It still cracks me up when I see the new kids in school - especially here at Little Rock - wearing those. They all see me and read 'TSGT' on my flight suit and almost jump out of their skin!! I have to tell them to relax and, "Don't call me sir!" Love that natural metal finish T-33 too!
Technical School, Jet Engine Technician Standing in C-5 engine intake. circa October 1971
Skeeter wings, man that really only seems like yesterday. Time seems to just fly by for me. I had an exciting career with lots of flying. Being an engine troop you were alway being flown someplace to fix some engine.
One of my T-33 flights out of McChord AFB, WA. circa 1976
Hope you don't mind some other picks besides F-106.
just copy and paste above link in address bar of your browser or click as a link if it's working. Just though I would share this. One signature is of "The Chief" who I wonder signed it. Any information would be great. Thanks.
Dave, very nice photo of that F-106 landing. Lots of details, Mt. Rainer, ground crew, age equipment, etc. Thanks for sharing. Remember when the picture was taken? Tail flashing is missing, maybe close to deactiving the six's, or one returning from depot?
Nice photo Gordon, and welcome to the forums! Love those orange flight suits! I'd like to wear one to work on Frosty Friday just to get a rise out of some folks in my squadron. Of course, if we had Frosty Fridays anymore...
