They did think of fitting the receiver of the AGM-76 with an anti-radiation device. It wouldn't have worked from altitude?
Couldn't they have picked up enemy radar?

Sure a radar detector could have been added but there were no GAR-9s in production. And it would have only worked for that one purpose (knocking out radar transmitters).
Probably could have done that with some of the old Falcons too.
HAC proposed a combined X-Band/Ka-Band (10GHz/30GHz) radar for the F-111. I saw some photos of the scope made of the flight test of the Ka band. Quite remarkable. Flying over NY City, Central Park was quite visible.
On the other hand the Maverick beat them all for air to ground. With little training you could learn to put it through the front door of a building from 10 miles out. If you could see it you could hit it. Then came the laser version. Get someone to spotlight the target and it would hit it. But as I said it was too late. I was at Eglin supporting the firing of the last test models in the summer of '72 and it went into production that fall. Thoughts about it later was that we should have taken them to Vietnam for testing. It showed it's stuff in the Gulf War.
From what I saw maintenance of the F-12 was a problem. It needed a lot of special care. Still, in my mind it is the finest craft ever built. But for the air to ground mission the ugly Warthog is hard to beat.

Let us remember, the F-12 had somewhat of a proposed mission profile. The F-106X was only a dream.
Now lets have some pity on the F-12 pilots. 24 hrs in a High altitude suite? Are you kidding? Now a more reasonable profile of 45 to 50K to shoot up or down, sans the suit would have been realistic and lets face it, dream as you might, we just didn't need them. Black Bart

Why didn't they design them with ejection capsules and a pressurized cockpit like the F-108 was designed with?
Just out of curiousity...

Just like the Six "B" seat, an escape capsule would have been too complicated.
Also only a Mock Up of the F-108 was built, probably from plywood just like the auto industry used to make clay molds of cars in design. In both cases they were not even close to what the final product would look like.
Maybe a flyable airframe would have an escape capsule. Who knows? It was canceled before it was all thought out.
But remember, the Six lived on.
F-101B MG-13 and 2 AIR-2As F-102A MG-10 and Mighty Mouse rockets some updated to AIM-26 Note: The MG10 and 13 were basically the same system. F-106A/B MA-1 and AIR-2A or B. F-108 LRI and AIR-2A/B or AIM-47 F-12 ASG-18 and AIM-47 F-14 Phoenix missile system with AIM-54 (Phoenix Missile)
So you see, there are five generations and each gets better. Black Bart
