C-130 Seaplane Should Fly In 2023 Says Air Force Special Ops Commander

While I respect the C-130 aircraft very much, I am wondering if the V-22 Osprey might not be a better solution to this problem when small troop and equipment loads are necessary.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell_Boeing_V-22_Osprey
Special Operators have different requirements for every mission regarding troop and equipment loads. They use C-17 and C-130 aircraft on short dirt runways as necessary but neither of them is amphibians that can land on water.
What are your thoughts? Pat. P

Those big ol' boats on the "Sea-130" belly are gonna have MASSIVE penalties in speed, range and capacity. We'd be better served to develop an enlarged license-build of the ShinMaywa US-2 flying-boat for this role.

Pat, I worked with Special Ops C-130 folks at Hurlburt Field, Florida for almost 10 years as a Contractor to WPAFB Logistics. I attended many Special presentations by Lockheed, Boing etc. Some of the ideas presented were along the same lines. In fact a saw a different version of same idea using throw away flotation devices. The total performance of C-130 with these types attachments made it a one-time Mission whether dropping off troops or rescuing them. Radar signature make it a high risk even without attachments, more so with additions. Ever thought of a C-5 Cruise Missile Platform? Saw that back as early as 1990's. Aircraft pressurization system would spit them out like a sub does torpedo's. It mounted the B-52 Cruise Missile rotary rack. Last one I saw used C-17. We also saw lots of C-130's with Air to air missile systems. Anyone remember the Fulton Rescue System. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulton_surface-to-air_recovery_system. Special Ops does a lot of wish lists and this C-130 floating boat may fall into that category. More like disinformation. If it looks like we are doing it, opponents may have to work on defense against it. We have a lot of special C-130 aircraft and most use roll on/roll off containers. Attach many types of external antennas and then just load a container and hook up electronica and you have a special mission Aircraft. A Reserve Squadron outside Youngstown OH has the additional role of Spray services. They can spray any liquid from Agent Orange stuff to fire fighting gear. The spray heads are semi-permanent and the tank/spray container is rolled into cargo area and hoses attached. 30 minute conversion. Back to your amphioxus C-130, the funding/contacting actions will probably outlive the General who thinks we need it. Lorin

Lorin, ISTR there was also a proposal to outfit C-5s with vertical silos for Polaris or Poseidon-class SLBMs as "flying missile subs", and we KNOW they can drop-launch a Minuteman from one trial.

In the 1966 movie The Russians are Coming The Russians are Coming there are 2 F-101 Voodoo's diving at the Russian sub towards the end of the movie I didn't get the tail flash or the aircraft numbers. Anyone know what squadron they were from?

C-130 for water landings is going to be dead for many reasons.
