I read the whole book about the f-106 and was very pleased with all the information and accuracy of what I read. I could not find where the 21 f106s went to on the inactivation date in June of 1967. I was an airman in the 539th from January 1961 to June 1964. I was a flight line MA-1 electronic technician shred up. I'm just curious as to what happened to those old 1957 models that we had and saw through many many upgrades during my three and a half years at McGuire Air Force Base.

Welcome to the Forum. I too was part of the 539th FIS MA-1 shop from 1964 until we disbanded in 1967. I am Lorin Berry. I went to Tyndall along with MSgt Jim Neese. He was my flight Chief most of the time at McGuire. The majority of the birds went to the 95th FIS at Dover along with most of the Flight and Maintenance crews. We got the B Models at Tyndall 528, 529, and 530 as I remember. I remember most MA-1 troops most of us young troops (Then) came in from Lowry at beginning or 1964. My class had Ron Hada, Bobby Snipes, Don Schnell, Gary Fulkerson, Bob Dwinell, Larry MacGonagal, Donn Anderle. The class before me was Gary ? ,Harvey Smith, Pete Reynolds. Sam Orlando was a MSgt at McGuire and left MA-1 for PMEL when we disbanded. He later got transferred to Tyndall. We have remained friends over the years. He still lives near Tyndall. I think he hit 85 this year and is doing good. While at Tyndall I went TDY with 318th FIS to Osan Korea for 6 months. I left MA-1 in Jan 1971 and cross trained into Flight Simulation Maintenance and Ops. Retired as CMSgt from WPAFB Ohio and spent 20 years working on base as a Contractor. Tell me about yourself. We probably know each other...from long time ago. I talked to Richard Burns a few years back, he left service and worked at NASA for his career. I ran into Ted Schmitts while I was stationed in Germany in late 1970's. Remember CMSgt Foster our MA-1 Flight line Chief? Hope to hear from you soon Lorin

DVN, go here to see he 539th FIS history and assigned aircraft. www.f-106deltadart.com/539fis.htm
Click on any of the tail numbers and it will take you to the F-106 Lineage page. Scroll down until you see the tail number you are looking for and click on the magnifying glass icon and it will show you the history of that aircraft and all assignments.
