Drove out to the Lubbock, TX area yesterday to see a friend, and we decided to drive out to the old, Reese AFB. Saw this metal artwork as I drove around the traffic circle to behind what I guess was the old wing HQ. An interesting interpretation to say the least! What caught my eye first were the F-102s, then I saw the rose in the skull. That is the old symbol for the 509th FIS when they flew Deuces out of Clark, and maintained a det in Vietnam! Why this art is at the old Reese AFB is a mystery to me, as the 509th eventually flew the A-10 out of RAF Alconbury before being deactivated in 1990. Still, I think it is very cool!

Maybe the person doing the artwork was looking at the WWII Sq Emblem as a model? Lorin

Maybe the person doing the artwork was looking at the WWII Sq Emblem as a model? Lorin Hmm...? Combined the two? Definitely Deuces in the art though. By the way, that should be somewhere other than the old, Reese AFB. I would love to know who did it, and it's history. Mark O.
