Only one outfit called me "Black Bart"! Twas 45 years ago. Was home last Easter. Dad had a WWll deferment because he worked in the A/C industry. Claimed he worked on the XF-15-C. A/C had Prop, Jet Engine and Tail Hook. Is he going NUTS? Jack "Black Bart"

You guy's are too good. His mind is fuzzy and he had me going for a while cuz Curtis was not known for naval A/C. However this was brown shoe days so it should be a P if AF. So yes it is in Curtis records. X = Experimental F = Fighter 15 = Seiries designation C = Curtis under old designation system Prop and Jet used for launch. Prop used for cruise. Prop and Jet used for attack. Tailhook used for landing. Project canceled for full jet Banshee. The letters so similar to AF F-15C had me going. Jack

Ok. According to me friend the Convair tech rep, Jim Day-aka, Numbnuts------ The Duece was suppose to have gotten the J-67 which was a Rolls Royce engine, it never became available...... Another choice was the J-75, but the qtys were not there to suopprt the Duece and other a/c using it. Imagine what the Duece might have like with the 75!!!! The Old Sarge

Imagine what the Duece might have like with the 75!!!! The Old Sarge Regardless, with a J-75 or even a J-58 the TF would have still been a butt ugly B1RD.
