It was the F-102's competitor...
Used a turbojet with a ramjet seperated from it... low speeds the ramjet's used like a burner, and at higher speeds, a series of folding doors route the air around the jet and into the ramjet allowing the plane to fly at high-mach.
Anyone know more? Anybody have any pictures?
