Hello Voodoo fans!
I´m currently working on some high resolution repaints for the
Strike Fighters 2 simulation by Thirdwire.
But for that project i need still a lot of reference material to do accurate repaints for the Voodoo.
Maybe someone here can help me here.
I need Infos / references about the stencils, markings & all the maintenance texts on the F-101s (A,B,C & the RF variants).
I have searched the internet, but found not all the things needet.
Thanks in advance,
Carlo "Soulfreak" Vecchi

Carlo, try here www.f-106deltadart.com/manuals_documents.htm and look at T.O. 1-1-4 Exterior, Finishes, Insignia & Markings.
It will have the specs for general markings of all USAF aircraft. If you are looking for small stencil or decal markings for the F-101, you'll probably have to find the T.O. 1F-101A-4 Illustrated Parts Breakdown.
You could also try this website: www.avialogs.com/index.php/en/aircraft/usa/mcdonnell/f-101voodoo.html
Good luck, Pat P.

Hi Carlo,
I had written a reply but it seems that it didn't post. For now, let me drill into this a bit further and should have something either wY by tomorrow. Best of luck--very glad to see the Voodoo getting her due on Strike Fighters!

Hi Carlo,
I was a volunteer for a number of years at the Aerospace Museum of California (formerly McClellan Aviation Museum) in Sacramento, CA but have since moved six hours away and am no longer involved out there. I left most of the documentation that I had put together for the ongoing restoration of the F-101B so am trying to work from memory.
As our esteemed leader here has mentioned, the stenciling details will be found deep in the collection of maintenance manuals for a given airplane. I don't remember if they are in the 2-2 manual or, as Pat has stated, the Dash-4 manual, but seem to recall that it was the latter, which has all of the exploded parts breakdowns. The museum does have a copy of T.O. 1F-101B-4 in its library. It used to be open to the public from 10-12 every Wednesday but am not sure of the current schedule. At the time I left, Ray Young was in charge of the collection. You might want to contact other, nearby museums if you are in a different area, especially if they have a Voodoo in their collection. Sometimes, the set of maintenance manuals was provided with the airplane. The number for the museum is (916) 643-3192 if you want to follow up with them. I have a friend who used to have a set of F-101B manuals so will contact him to see if he might have what you need.
With relatively minor variations, all versions of the Voodoo had the same stenciling, so most of what you would find for the F-101B would apply to the F-101A/C and RF models. Hope this is helpful and if you want to contact me directly, drop me a line at bigron427 at yahoo dot com. I will be very glad to help out where I can. In the meantime, good luck!

Hello Pat & Ron, thank you for your help. I´m hoping you will find something. ;-) I´m located in Germany and here we have only one F-101B @ the Technikmuseum in Speyer. But the guys there couldn´t help me.

Well, that puts a bit of a damper on things but we're not out of options yet. Let me get in touch with my friend John and see if he might have the manual you need and get some scans. Otherwise, maybe we could put the call out for anyone in the Sacramento area to look through the manuals at the museum (they have the one with the stencils, either 1F-101B-2-2 or 1F-101B-4) and get some smart phone photos or something. If I were still up that way I would do it myself. Either way, we'll see what we can get shaking for you.

Thanks, Jim! Things have been crazy busy with an expanding family, moving, and changing careers so have dropped off of the map in more than one place, I'm afraid. But things are going in the right direction and as we settle into our new home and new routines I'll be around here a bit more. I always enjoy the company here--Cheers! Ron

Hey Carlo,
"No Joy" on the manuals that John had. Turned out they were the ones he borrowed from the museum and has since returned.
