Wanted to share a recent addition, the 33rd Air Division. Assigned to 1st Air Force (Air Defense Command/Aerospace Air Command) 1951-61 & 1966-69 at Fort Lee AFS. It controlled two F-106 elements, the 48th FIS and 95th FIS.

Where does an air-division rank in the hierarchical structure? Are they below or above air-wing?

Where does an air-division rank in the hierarchical structure? Are they below or above air-wing? This article includes a list of references, related reading or external links, but its sources remain unclear because it lacks inline citations. Please help to improve this article by introducing more precise citations. (January 2013) (Learn how and when to remove this template message) In the United States Air Force, a Division was an intermediate level of command, subordinate to a Numbered Air Force, controlling one or more Wings. It also controlled squadrons without associated same-function wings, i.e., 17th Defense Systems Evaluation Squadron had no associated wing, but its function was part of the 24th Air Division. It is now considered obsolete. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Division_(United_States)

Okay, so it was above air-wing, but below numbered air-force units, and now is not used anymore.
Understood
