I can't remember the year 76 or 78' at Tyndall during combat pike, a guy painted a snake on our trailer, it was of a rattle snake, it's fangs showing, on his back, it had three units coiled in his back. I had a fire and lost my photo, now I can't find one. does anyone have a copy, or can send me a scan? J.L. Brown Jr, TSgt, USAF Retired, 46270

Try Bing or Google and search with this phrase
military unit patches with snake
or
military unit emblems with snake
I found a lot of them but none like you mentioned. You might also try Tattoo designs with snake

I found the negative today, after I get a print, I'll scan it and post it, it was pretty cool, the Fla Air National Guard, spells out Fang, the guy that did the painting, did a great job.

Back when I was a young Airman we used to refer to all Air national Guard folks as FANGS. They, and some Reserve Units, would fly us to Tyndall, or other TDY sites in their beat up, and unreliable Aircraft ( C-119, C-123, C-124). We had more aborted take offs in C-123's than we did flights. One TDY from McGuire to Tyndall took 4 tries before we got airborne and then we had in-flight emergency half way to Tyndall. The had oil issues on engine and had to shut it down. FANG was for Friggin ANG. But they tried. Today's Guard and Reserves are filled with much better equipment and is well maintained. Lorin

I stayed with the FANG till Carter's cutbacks forced me into active service. I loved the 6, got a ride in just about every Aircraft I worked on. But each aircraft had their good points, the 6 was a great interceptor, the F111 was great flying low on the deck, I think they pulled them from service too soon, there was no other Aircraft that could run balls to the wall on the deck with burning their motors up, the F15s were awesome power, super aircraft, F16 was a workhorse for everything else. There's one thing you had to remember, we "as in FANG and reserves" had to do the same with less money, we had a C-131 that when it started would smoke the ramp, big radial engine. I enjoyed my time as FANG,

Someone did that art on the side of a building at Tyndall. There is a photo in Wings of Fame, Vol. 12 that I have in storage right now. Will try to find, and scan it tomorrow. Mark O

When the guy painted it, the F-106 cutout was not there. It was nice work of the guy that did it, all the guys in FANG liked the work.

The artist was former F-106 driver, and artist Dick Stultz! www.f-106deltadart.com/piwigo/index.php?/category/290Mark O [/quote The patch for the past reunion was designed by the Tazmanglian Devil, Stultz himself. For those of you that haven't attended the reunions, suggest you start planning now. You might become a subject of one of his plate caricatures........ ]
