A late April Fools joke posted by Butch Heilig over on the F-106 Facebook page. Reading the comments, I think some folks took him seriously, and I thought some were funnier than this photo! He got the photo here off the lineage page for 58-0761. www.f-106deltadart.com/lineage/58076102Large.htmlMark O

When I got to 539th FIS in mid 1963 SAC had the ramp next to 539 and away from main base/flight line. They had a deployment site for EC-121 aircraft. They would also get transient Tankers, KC-135 back then. When the crews would land late at night they would ask where was the closest snack bar. We told them we had one in 539th hanger. Of course that was a Restricted Area and signs were posted as well as the red lines painted on concrete. If the crews decide that they wanted a snack they would walk across our red line fence and enter the snack bar. We had to notify maintenance control of unknown persons in snack bar. The Sky Cops would get some good experience apprehending intruders and we would get 3-day pass...lol We never got along well with LeMay's finest. Lorin
