So I'm building the Trumpeter Six and since I was stationed at K.I. Sawyer in 83-87, the obvious first choice is the 87th. My question concerns the rearing bull on the left side of the nose. What time frame did that start appearing? I'd like the markings to be right for the mid 80's time frame, but no sheets have that particular item. Most sheets seem to be for the 76 WT time frame. Thanks!

Thanks! Welcome to the forums! What did you do in the USAF? Were you in the 87th FIS? Be sure to sign up on our alumni pages! www.f-106deltadart.com/databases/f-106alumni/f106alumni_list.phpI too have wondered about that one, and as the unofficial decal collector here I can tell you I have yet to see it myself. You might want to ask this question over on the Convair F-106 Delta Dart page on Facebook. There are a quite a few Sixers over there, and may be able to help with the specifics on when the 87th used that bull on the nose. www.facebook.com/#!/groups/369820889709561/ Again,

Hello, Mark and thanks for the welcome. I was actually SACumcized being with the 410th Transportation Squadron but I fell in love with the Six the first time I saw it. Without a doubt one of the most beautiful airplanes ever made. Shame they never got the F-15's they were slated for but then again the markings probably would not have near as nice as that red bull on the tail. I did have a brief moment of fame with the 87th. I was featured in the base newspaper giving Colonel Furhman a model of an 87th Six made from the old Monogram kit. Gads, did I look like a dork in that photo! :-) Sometimes wonder what became of that model after they closed up shop.

Also, couldn't find the Six group on Facebook using the number you provided and no luck searching by name either. Out of business, maybe?

Guess my smart phone went stupid. Links worked this time. Thanks, Mark! The Trumpeter Six is about 80% complete. Will post pics when done.

Ahh, ya know how life gets in the way sometimes. The Trumpy Six did get completed ; I just need to get some new pictures of it. I will tell you right now the weapons bay doors are a PITA! I ended up using the closed bay option. If I build another, I'm gonna steal the molded open doors from a monogram kit; be a lot easier.
