An old English saying for having a pint or too on behalf of the baby,. Well, Lorin, seeing I have no English in me, but Irish and Swedish, there would have to be substitutes.
For the Irish, a dram of Old Bushmills or a pint of Guiness Stout.
For the Swedish, a dram of Akvavit or Snaps, or maybe Absolute.
But seeing I don't use any alcoholic beverages, I will just have another beverage the Swedes have made a tradition: Black Coffee.
We have not seen young Michael yet, but hope to soon.
Just to clarify; we have a great-grand-daughter, who is almost three.
She was born to another of our grand-daughters.

De and I thank you all for the kind comments after the birth of our first great-grandson.
Yes, it is a special event, as was the birth of our first great-grand-daughter nearly three years ago.
But, I thought about it, and some things came to mind.
First off; to have great-grand-children means you have grand-children.
It also means you have children old enough to have grand-children.
In our family, the same child is the grandmother to both of our great-grand-children.
That comes up with a conclusion that I am "aging".
I consider myself like fine cheese or fine wine, I have become better with age.
Well, at least I know a lot of things I didn't know when I was very young.
Some of those things are very useful.
Some are only good to impress people with the "steel-trap" mind I have.
Our oldest daughter, the grandmother, will be Sixty in December.
It is hard for me to think about having a daughter who is almost old enough to be on Social Security.
But, the calendar doesn't change because I find it inconvenient.
I also realize that every day, every single day, may be my last on this Earth.
No, that doesn't bother me.
After all, many years ago, I made a decision to give my life to the Lord Jesus Christ and to allow Him to be the Lord of my life.
According to Scripture, which I completely beleive, when I pass from this world, at that very instance, "in the twinkling of an eye", I will be ushered in to my Saviour's presence and be there for eternity.
I hope each of you has that assurance.
If not, what are you waiting for?
Jim Too, aka "A child of the King".

But, when they are grand-children or great-grand-children, when we leave the house where they are, they stay there.
Of course, we look forward to our next "visit" with them, and are thankful we don't have to change their diapers.

OK for Pastor and ADART
And, after these Great grandchildren get 3-4 years on them and they misbehave at your house and mom and dad don't seem to notice, or care, then it is time to send the family home... Fortunately, out of 6 great grand kids I have only 2 that aren't in their teens, but are almost there.... You are right it is nice to have kids around- whether they are yours, theirs or the neighbors...... I had the pleasure of watching my neighbor's son go from 3 cornered pants to becoming an engineer in the town fire department. Then the neighborhood became childless- no bike tires to patch or pump up, no model rockets to launch. Enjoy them all you can- even if you have to steal them from mom and dad.

Yes we have seen our neighborhood reborn again. New neighbors all around us now, and it brings all the sounds of kids playing, riding bikes and selling things for school events. Its really kind of nice. I do believe the wife and I are one of the oldest couples in the neighborhood.
