Just so we don't get to far off subject on the F-106 Pics thread, I thought I would add this one about Lt. Gen. Bobby Bond, and his MiG-23 crash. No, he was not flying an F-117 at the time. This is just one link, but there are others about the incident. Many not so favorable. www.f-117a.com/Bond.html

General Bond was our Air Force Systems Command commander at the time of his death. We heard the rumor that he died in the crash of a F-117 stealth fighter. But a few months later heard that it was flying a MIG. He was a good commander and tried "fixing" the acquisition system. The AF soon afterwards combined Systems Command and Logistic Command into Materiel Command. That stopped the official turn over of new equipment from Acquisition Command to Support Command. That Turn over agreement insured that all support elements were in place. Without that safeguard we have fielded equipment with questionable support capabilities. Lorin

May have saved a lot of money, and maybe not even bought the most expensive paper weight in the military.
