Suppose this might explain HAZMAT routes.. Read the posts about what the cylinders may have contained. The narrator says oxygen, a poster says no, oxygen won't burn, even though it supports combustion - as in a cutting torch

The narrator says oxygen, a poster says no, oxygen won't burn, even though it supports combustion - as in a cutting torch Countries have different color codes for gas cylinders. Many differ in color codes for types of cylinders like industrial and medical gasses. Many of the cylinders in that truck were orange or brown. In the US I have seen orange cylinders for acetylene and butane and oxygen in green. I have also seen brown cylinders for butane and they are larger in diameter like many of those on the truck. When any oxygen cylinders ruptured they would add great momentary flame to the fire. We had a welding gas cylinder company just south of downtown Dallas go up in flames and explosions in 2007. Southwest Industrial Gases Inc. facility south of downtown, which sells gas cylinders used in the welding industry. The fire spread to dozens of other tanks, which began exploding in sequence. Video takes a minute to load. www.nbcnews.com/id/19954072/ns/us_news-life/t/welding-gas-tanks-explode-near-dallas/#.UwJHes6mWRkThis video was from Russia. No telling what type of gas they contained but it was more than just oxygen. Pat P.

I wonder why the car close to the explosions didn't move?
Did it get hit by a cylinder?
I have read that in Russia, virtually every vehicle has an active Dashcam.
Guess that is why we see so many road videos from Russia.
Pat, did the bottled gas company in Dallas rebuild?
At a different location?
The explosions reminded me of the old Carbide Generators we used to make our own Acetylene Gas for welding and cutting.
Those generators were very dangerous and known to explode at any time.
Not knowing the Russian colour coding for gas cylinders, I have no idea what was in those tanks, but whatever it was, it sure was powerful.

Here's a picture of the location but it sure doesn't look like a gas business is going on there anymore. Lot of scorched earth and a few buildings missing. There is no listing for them unless they changed names and locations. Pat P

I could spend more time than I have left in that place, just looking, and if allowed, handling weapons.
WOW!

As could I... I think my dream job just got changed... from "College WWII History Professor" to their curator--as long as I was allowed to hire one assistant of my choosing, no questions asked.

Wondrerful advertisement for the Duxford Air Show.
Would like to be there for it.
I have visited the Duxford Museum and it is a fascinating place.
They have lots of American planes, mostly in one building, dedicated to American Aeroplanes.
They also have a number of birds which they own, or are on loan, that regulary bore holes in the sky.
It is wonderful to hear those WW2 machines, particularly those with R-R Engines, as they Beat Up the Field.
I have also worked on some of them during A&E School at Shepherd and while stationed at The SCAB.
As a lad in San Francisco, during and after WW2, I saw many of them flying in the area, from Hamilton, Fairfield-Suisun and the Navy bases in the area.
Who wants to pay my way to Duxford in July?
