Back in that era, being a test pilot was no piece of cake, nor is it now.
In the early days of jets it became even more precarious, as they were really pushing the various envelopes.
The dangers of the unknown are shown in this account, and continue.
I don't know how many test pilots have been killed over the years since aviation began, but each of them died doing what they loved, and bettering the final products that made it in to the squadrons and to combat.
to each of those in the past, the present and the future.
