Robert 'Bob' ARCHIBALD, owner of Dragonfly Aviation, died August 31, 2013 in Santa Rosa, CA, age 81. He is survived by his devoted family, wife Irene M. Archibald, sons Ian Gordon Archibald (and wife Vanessa), Paul Andrew Archibald and most adored grandchildren Sebastian Gordon Archibald and Vivian Skye Archibald.
He was proud of his twenty-two years of service as a Photo-Reconnaissance pilot, "Alone, Un-armed and Unafraid", and as a Tactical Fighter Pilot in the United States Air Force. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross twice, in addition to the Bronze Star during his Air Force career.
Bob served the local community for many years - Scoutmaster and Silver Beaver with the Boy Scouts of America, served on the board of directors at the Pacific Coast Air Museum and tireless business owner and promoter of aviation and education. Private services with full military honors were held at Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.

I actually just learned of Bob's passing yesterday from a life-long friend of mine who used to work for Bob at Dragonfly. It's funny to me because my friend always refered to the place as "The Bug", and I suppose always will. Interestingly my only contact with Bob was via a few eBay trades we made, but I was frequently kept up to date about him via my friend in Santa Rosa. Another Sixer gone west... God speed Bob Archibald.
