Hey guys,
Been trying to keep up with the goings-on as much as I can while I'm down here in Houston. Not sure how this topic got it's name, but since we're here I have to say the ONE THING that I THINK -- I THINK -- is the biggest F-106 draw on the internet can be self-explained in the photo I am attaching to this post. I'm a relatively new member there -- about two weeks ago -- and those guys are always there posting F-106 stuff, and commenting on F-106 stuff. ALWAYS!
Facebook groups are the wave of the future. I have no doubt about it. Our MOW is a member there, and more times than I can count he is selling www.f-106deltart.com to the Facebook guys. Oh, there are several guys that are members of both, but Facebook sure has their attention now.
I believe the thing to remember is this site is a reference depository, and the Facebook is a social reference. The common thing is they are posting F-106 photos, and memories all the time, and replying with one, or two sentences.
Now, I don't want to make this a contest, or and "us vs. them" kind of thing, but I think the suggestions I've read so far are great, and we need to advertise these new features to the Facebook guys.
Just my two cents. (Yes, I would like my change back please!)

Yes, you're right Mark there are actually a lot of guys over there that are here too, just not active here. Many of the Usernames here relate to some of the guys over there. It's funny, because some of the regulars there, non-F-106 folks, post photo's they found on the website.

MOW, Comparing the F-106 main site and Forum to F-106 Facebook reminds me of the time we tried out a "chat room" concept that remained idle. The evolution of Social Media (Facebook, etc) and Smart Phones has created these "chat rooms" because you no longer have to sit in front of your PC at home to carry on a dialogue with like minded friends. I often wonder about the guys and gals younger than us who worked in the ANGs as the Six transitioned eventually to the Drone program. They were probably a lot more early adopters of technology than us older guys on the Forum and may be big users of the F-106 Facebook page. They may also account for some of the Guest visits we get every day. I guess it's time for me to trade in my flip phone for a Smart Phone and maybe join Facebook if only to view the F-106 stuff. Hey, is there a way we can link from the Forum to see the F-106 Facebook page without joining Facebook? Just wondering.

No, you have to be logged into Facebook to even see it, so you need an account. Then, some Groups are Open and some are Closed, a closed group being one you can't see unless Joined to it. The Convair F-106 Delta Dart group is Open, but you still need a Facebook account to see it. That said, other than a couple of you guys here, I don't know anyone else who doesn't have a Facebook account. It really is everywhere now, and in fact is more popular with our age group than the young folks. Young folks are migrating OFF Facebook BECAUSE of our age group. They don't like having their parents 'watching' them, so many are going to other social media sites now. Also, you'll notice on many of the websites pages there is a link to the Facebook page with the icon.
