I've been poking around the galleries adding photos tonight (lot's of new patches on the 5th FIS page, plus other odds & ends), and came across this photo of 59-0088 of the 87th FIS from William Tell '72. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't "Jack" holding (okay, strangling!) a 460th FIS Tiger, and a 5th FIS Lynx? I don't know how many times I've seen this art work, but for some reason the symbolism just hit me tonight.
By the way, "Jack" is Lt Col Jack Sandstrom. That's SSgt Geoff Gautcher on the left, and SSgt Steve (?) Hamilton on the right as you are looking at the photo. (Courtesy of MArv.)

Mark, it sure looks like a Tiger and a Lynx to me.
I wasn't in the 5th after 1967, and retired on 1 February 1972, so had no part in Willy Tell in 1972.
There were always some good, not destructive, rivalries in ADC.

Lt Col Sandstrom was commander for the 5th FIS when I arrived in 1973. Looks like he got there "Lt Col Jack H. Sandstrom, 19 Jan 1973 until June 1975" according to the 5 FTS (Flying Training Squadron) history. www.afhra.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=9737
