Some one asked me a few months ago if I knew where, or what happened to the home made 318th go cart aircraft that was used during parties. I still do not know its current location of what happened to it when the 318th deactivated. But last night while going through a box of old photo's of my son's early years I found thes pictures of it I took at a 318th Christmas Party about 1986 or 87. One photo even shows the rudder pedals. Lets see if ImageThrust.com will post them here for us. <a href="http://i83.imagethrust.com/images/2xmr/view-image/santa-arrives-at-318fis-christmas-party.html"><img src="http://i83.imagethrust.com/t/604899/santaarrivesat318fischris.jpg" border="0"></a> <a href="http://i84.imagethrust.com/images/2xmC/view-image/gary-in-318th-fis-flightline-toy-aircraft.html"><img src="http://i84.imagethrust.com/t/604910/garyin318thfisflightlinet.jpg" border="0"></a> <a href="http://i83.imagethrust.com/images/2xmF/view-image/gary-in-318th-fis-flightline-toy-aircraft-2.html"><img src="http://i83.imagethrust.com/t/604913/garyin318thfisflightlinet.jpg" border="0"></a>

I remember the old thing well. It was "stolen" by someone?? and wound up in the Philippines. 318 CC got a call asking if we wanted it back. He said yes and it was returned on a C-141. When it "left" it had been powered by a washing machine motor which had to be run off an extension cord. When it returned a V4 Wisconsin engine with a shortened prop attached to the crankshaft was had been installed. The stick and pedals operated appropiate controls and the thing would taxi like a bat out of hell. It was used before and after its theft to transport Santa to the squadron kids at the Christmas party among other things. A note: The battery to start the engine was installed in front of the operator and, if removed, without an operator the thing would sit back on its twin tail. Had a pilot (who else??) ask me if I thought it would fly. Told him good luck but, I wouldn't want it strapped to my a$$ if it happened to get airborne. Jim

Sorry to be so long responding to your question on Santa's F-106 1/2. I wasn't able to get the image from image thrust. The site is inactive. I was there when the F-106 came back to 318th. Sent my guys to get it from the C-141 ramp. It had to be repainted and the Green Dragon and tail flash reapplied. Also need a new battery(6 volt). Same engine(V4 Wisconsin) as was in our MC-11 air compressors. We kept it chained to the wall in the AGE dispatch building to keep the Ops pukes (who were the suspects in it's disappearance) from making off with it again. The rudder pedals worked as rudder pedals and brake pedals. The thing would taxi at about 10MPH. If anyone did a picture of it I would appreciate them sending it to me at the e-mail address in my profile.

Jim, I'll see if I can find those pics again and e-mail to you. Did the osi ever look into the theft?

I don't think OSI was ever involved. I got the impression it was MAC ops guys but, who knows. It was a matter of boys will be boys like the Navy goat and the Army mule. Don't think anyone ever tried to steal the AF falcon though. Would appreciate the pictures if you can locate them. Thanks
