Congratulations to the young man from the Old Sarge, who was supervisor of the first dirtmaking project. That shirt should be framed.... Sure beats the look of bdus and subdued stripes......

That shirt should be framed... Thanks. That's where I thought it was headed when I gave it to him. Should have suspected something when I started getting these "What did you do in the war questions." BTW. The son also commented on how much cooler he thought the old uniforms were.

I've read they are coming out with a lightweight version of the current uniform. Everything old is new again. They did the same thing when the BDUs came out.
Of course the bigger issue is the uniforms themselves. Everyone from the GAO down is wondering why in the h-e-double hockey sticks every branch has its own unique color scheme. The real question is why some of them spent so much money on it.
Oh well, I still think that was a very cool story! Somewhere in this house I have a couple uniforms very similar to that in a box. Mine have Civil Air Patrol insignia on them, however. I did wear the Army version of that uniform in the early 80's, but those are long gone. (I gave them to some cadet in the CAP when the Army phased that uniform out.)
