When I left the sixes I went to F-16's, and there too ended up an Egress Aug. Took me a while to get over having to pull the canopy off on those things to get the seat out... "go figure" I thought to myself. I can't remember his last name now... UGH! Andy from the 87th Egress Shop... UGH! We only SHARED the friggin office with him, PE Dock and Egress... UGH! I must be getting tired. He was a good photographer too... UGH!!! Andy! What the hell was your name? It's right here in front of me, tip of my tongue...

I'M AND EGRESS GUY, WORKED ON F102'S, T-33'S AND B 57'S AT ELMENDORF TILL THE F4'S CAME IN, WORKED ON THEM A FEW YEARS, THEN FINISHED MY LAST FEW YEARS AT KI ON F106'S TILL DISCHARGE IN 1976. WORKED WITH TSGT PICA, TSGT HANEY, CHUCK SCHILLING, DENNIS FEHRENBACK (WHO LATER GOT STAIONED IN ALASKA AND WORKED FOR ME AT MY BUSINESS. IT WAS A GREAT JOB AND I MISS IT A LOT. LOVED WORKING ON THE PLANES BUT IT WAS ROUGH IN THE WINTER, ESPECIALLY AT REMOTE ALERT CELLS IN ALASKA WHERE THERE MIGHT ONLY BE 2 ALERT CELLS AND 3 OR FOUR SUPPORT BUILDINGS AND -80. GLAD TO HEAR FROM ANYBODY AND TALK ABOUT? . I RECENTLY MOVED FROM ALASKA TO FARGO, ND, THE ARMPIT OF THE WORLD AND HOPE NEXT YEAR TO BE AT THE REUNION. GUESS I BETTER GET READY AND GO TO WORK. I MANAGE AN AUTOZONE PARTS STORE IN FARGO. (SSGT) DUNNE

A tip of the hat to you egress guys. When we got our Six at CAM, it had been modified into a drone. With the help of my Son Dean, we removed the seat , layed back the stick, and removed the drone control panel and installed a TSD. It took a while but we got it done, put the stick back up, installed the seat, and cleared the Red Xs. So, I partially know what you guys did, thanks for your support. Ralph

Speaking of egress, Pat: There's an ultra-rare headrest assembly on eBay right now that looks to be from the original ICESC/Convair "Supersonic" B Seat. As you (and any other egress types) know, that "Tilt-Seat" is today among the rarest of the the rare US ejection seats. There are only a few examples still in existance, since most were removed and destroyed (scrapped) when the newer (and safer) Weber rocket seat was installed (I believe it was during "Project Long-jump" Six upgrade at McClellan) in the early 60s. I myself know of only two other examples of this exotic seat (known by Six egress guys as "The Pilot-killer") in private hands, not counting the one the forensics guys had at the Kelly MIA program lab. I've never seen any other parts of an original "Tilt-Seat" ever come up anywhere, let alone on eBay. The guy who is offering it for auction it is located here in Sacramento, too, so I wonder if there's a McClellan SALC connection behind that? MOST interesting, I think.

Might be a nice addition to the air park if it were affordable.

Just saw this one and I know it's been out there a while however I will respone. I'm an Egress guy!! and pround of it. I have worked the F-4, F-106, T-33, and F-16. I really liked working the F-106, the seats were lite and easy to move around, perform phase on etc. The F-16 was and is the most pain in the A@# seat to work. I bet I did hundreds of TCTO's on those so called seats, everytime I turned around there would be another one to do. I worked the "SIX" at Griffiss @ the 49th from 79-81, and we worked out of the phase docks too. Those were the Glory Days!!!!
