This may be a real long shot, but here goes. I'm turning to you F-106 guys for help with a model construction project to start in January. I'm planning on building a 1/32nd scale F-106A and a 1/32nd scale T-33 in early '80s 194th Figher Squadron (Calif Air Guard) colors at Fresno. They will be displayed together. Does anyone have contacts who can advise me on finishing the markings (pilot and crew chief names -- if any -- on a/c especially by tail number). I already have the tail numbers of each F-106 that served with the 194th. I even have some info on the assigned T-33 (53-5262). I'm interested in building 194th a/c because I lived in Fresno years ago near the airport and I used to watch them take off. Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Jim Starling

Thanks, Gene. I'm a writer (journalist), so phone is usually my first choice. My voice is still recovering from throat cancer surgery, so I'm very hard to understand. It'll be back to normal in a few months, but not right now.
Already tried email and snailmail to the 144th FW PAO without a response (more than two weeks).

Phone: (559) 454-5246 DSN 839-5246 E-mail tried calling?.... Welcome aboard Jim Starling. Here's what we have on the main F-106 site www.f-106deltadart.com/194fis.htmF-106 Assignments www.f-106deltadart.com/assignments.htm (select 194th FIS) There is a MSgt in the engine shop named Bill Emery if he is still in the Fresno Guard. It's been about 8 years since I was in contact with him, so he might be retired by now. He'll know the history of the F-106 at Fresno and he painted the display bird at Peterson AFB Museum in Colorado Springs and the display at Castle Air Museum in Atwater, CA. Call the main number Gene provided above and see if he is still there. Post pictures when you're done. Pat P.

Welcome to the Six Hanger and Chat Shop, Jim.
Hope you are able to get the info you are looking for, then be able to post some pictures of your project.
Also hope you continue to have a good recovery from your throat surgery and your voice gets back to normal very soon.
My son was an Air Traffic Controller at Yellowstone-Fresno, but with the F-16s, so no help from that end.

Good evening Jim! I'm thinking that you must be near Fresno - hopefully - Right? You need to get in touch with an ex-MA-1 troop who worked on those "6's" back in the 1974-1980 time frame. His name is Joe Shugart. You should be able to find him listed on the members listing for this site. Joe was a "3" level of mine at Hamilton, then we moved with the squadron to Castle. Joe stuck out his 4 year hitch then went to the Fresno Guard for a few years working the "6's". He then went ARMY guard (I think I somehow failed in his training!) then ended up as an Air Traffic Control working the Fresno tower. He should be still in the Fresno area, now retired and playing with his grand kids! I'll have to look for some of the old materials I think I still have for the Fresno Guard at that time. I'm pretty sure some of the Castle 84th FIS MA-1 troops went to Fresno as well.
