Can you spell Stupid? That fool should be grounded and punished for endangering the lives of ground personel, the risk of damage to aircraft, and his own stupid life. The guy is doing 300 kts. At that speed the ground effects would have kept the plane from dropping that low, so he had to keep down stick applied to fly level. Some folks would say wow, but having been in Flight Simulation for decades, I was part of many crash investigations. That was a crash waiting to happen. I bet he flew under low bridges as well.

and I lost my license for 350 at 50' !!!!!!!!!!!!! Do they have jackrabbits in Argentina? ? Gophers maybe? As Lorin said, ground effects turn into "affects" spelled "crash"....... I would be more concerned about FODing the engine than the ground effect..... Wonder how many times he tried that getting accustomed to handling characteristics.... Can the simulator duplicate the ground effects and how it affects the a/c? 2 times I have had "brown shorts" flights, and both were for "out of the envelope" and STUPIDITY.......

Depends on the simulator I would have to say. Todays modern Simulators with Visual systems and radar/sensor data integrated do a great job. Some of teh older ones all depended upon flight test data. The C-130 probably had the worst "Source Data" package because it was not an AF Development. So none of the normal Edwards Flight Test Instrumentation was accomplished. In 1986 we paid for some modern flight test instrumentation testing. Wright-Patterson AFB Test Squadron had a C-130 and rented the instrumentation package from Edwards and flew about 100 hours in various configurations to gather new data. Singer-Link developed a new set of flight dynamics which were a great improvement. The F-16/F-15 both had great data and the flight characteristics are much more realistic. Ground effects are mostly a calculated data set. Ground effects are a ratio of wing area/length and angle of attack. I bigger the area of wing the more drastic ground effects. Fighters have less effects than cargo. Most Military cargo aircraft have to reduce power to get down. Commercial Airliners prefer to drive it down through Ground effects so they can get smoother landings. But it also requires a higher airspeed.
