We towed out our birds for the Airshow this weekend. Behind a high berm is one of tugs towing our Six out to the ramp. You can't see the tug, so it looks like she's taxing into the spot. Just like old times. Attachments:

And here she is all by herself. The first of our jets to be parked on the ramp. Attachments:

Great picture and she really looks clean and slender after all these years! Got a great sparkle to her! I just cannot bring myself to believe that the old 11th FIS, then 87th FIS RED Tail Flash is not there! Sure seems like something is wrong with that - but I'll take the sleek looks and image all the way. I know there are some of my fingerprints still inside - somewhere. Might have even left a little bit of skin too!!
Great picture and I hope to get out there and see her in person someday!

Sure brings back fond memories. Very awesome job of restoration. Wish there were more of them like this.

Good fortune has come my way. Rick Bowen, the original crewchief that put her together and lovingly performed her initial restoration, has returned to PCAM! He will be sharing 0086 with me during this years Airshow. I look forward to working with him in the coming years. It is a toss-up which of us loves the SIX more. My goal has been to keep her in ADC trim for as long as I can. Also to honor Col Rogers who petitioned to get 0086 to PCAM; wresting her from an ignominious fate as a "target".

Is it just me, or does the "8" in "90086" look off? www.dafont.com/amarillo-usaf.font?text=90086&psize=lI love the display, love the work y'all have done, but that 8 is just different to me. Guess I'm going to have to get out there to see it! It'll give me an excuse to see my buddy in Santa Rosa anyway!

Here's a larger image. I think the smaller (first) image just kind of blurred it a bit. This one should show that it is indeed Amarillo font throughout.

Mark, when I looked at the larger view, it looked like something was wrong. Then I scrolled up to hide the squadron insignia. I think it may be the comet tail pointing toward the 8 that makes it look off a bit. When all you see is the numbers, everything looks great. Maybe you are so used to seeing the crooked H on your products, that everything else looks crooked. Tee Hee. : Shadowgunner, you folks at Santa Rosa did a great job. Jim Too :god_bless_usa

Nah, the 8 is okay, it is that upside down nine that looks different

Probably just me. I definitely see it's Amarillo. To ME it looks like the numbers are elongated vertically. That said, I do believe someone here suggested I update my eyeglass prescription! Damn nice display. You guys put a BUNCH of work in her, and it sure shows. If one didn't know for sure you would think that last photo was taken when she was still on active duty!

Upon much closer review, comparing pics of her tail when she came to PCAM and current tailshot....you are correct, it is Amarillo "stretched vertically" GREAT EYE Mark!

If anything maybe all the numbers area a hair squished, but not elongated. I actually think the 8 is fine, but maybe because the jet is parked at an angle the numbers appear thin. This pic shows the same numbers in Amarillo, although flat not at an angle, and you can see the height looks pretty good, but the width is just a hair off. Attachments:

Dang! I wish I had been around for Wings over Wine Country. Just got back from a week in the Des Moines and Waterloo Iowa areas. Weather was great! Hottest day was 83 when we went to the fair.
