I have a Super 8 movie of a TDY to Nellis in '67 when we went for ACT from Richards-Gebaur, somewhere in my archives. One morning, I was talking with Maj. Lowe before he and his group of birds took off. He knew I had my camera [quite illegally] out there and told me to get some pix of them taking of. Since he was first to go, he broke off early and low right over us. The rest of the group had to break as well to stay with him. There is also a bit of footage of the F-111's...no audio, unfortunately. Is there any interest if I take the time to copy this to VHS, then to an MPG or WMV for upload here? Let me know. Joe A.

I'd be interested, mpg or wmv, either way.

Hey Great!! And HI!, John!..good to hear from ya. I know you were a part of this, but can't remember if you were with us on this TDY. I remember Bobby [Junior] Fults being there, but that's about it. My fondest recollection is of going to the NCO club after a very hot day on the F/L and seeing that dripping cold pitcher of beer he ordered. I'd never cared for beer that much before that little venture. It went down very smoothly...too much of it, I guess, for I went outside in the shade and promptly fell asleep [?] on the lawn in front of the club. So, I played with this thing yesterday for quite awhile and now have a 52.8MB MPG. It's not as good as I'd like, but it's the best I could do at the moment. Maybe some of you have converted Super 8 movies to a 'puter file, so maybe you can give me some hints. I projected it onto a piece of white paper to about a 6" square, then using a hi-res color surveilance camera with a varifocal auto iris lens, captured it to my 'puter using Roxio software. I then edited it with Power Director Pro movie maker to make it a bit of a smaller file. Should I try a larger projection screen using the same technique? Any suggestions would be helpful. Pat, if you want me to upload it to you, let me know where and how. I'm not sure where, or even if, I can upload it here, directly. Please let me know. Joe A.

Hi Joe, Yes I was there. Remember how we used heaters and ventilated the system through the air conditioning system? It did seem to work.
Thre gross out sesions with the pilots were great. Everyone would leave, except the pilots and MA-1.
Miss it. PS: your Airplane still has a bent nose ;-) . Black Bart

It was an inside joke about Joe's "B" model. Joe was trained for F-104's I believe and never worked on one. He cut his teeth on 106B models at Tyndall and actually prefered them. We harrased each other, especially AIR-2A qualification. Joe is a good MA-1 troop and always had a good Six. Take care Joe, Black Bart

You're right, John, I really loved the B bird. I recall you helping me remove the coffin rack on 2523 at RG not too long after we got there. Shift time ended, but I had to see it through and so did you. You stayed with me reinstalling everything right up to signing off the forms around midnight. We had that bird flying more green missions than any other six in the 71st. Yes, we also had a lot of fun in tornado alley; all the girls and kids in the basement and the guys grilling in the driveway watching the clouds. Joe A.
PS: I uploaded the movie to Pat on Sat, so I'm not sure how you get access to it.

Thanks, Pat, Sorry the quality isn't very good...I'll have to work on that. There are some really great RC model movies on that site. I've got a good one of a model B-52 with real, miniature jet engines that was flown in England...very impressive. Joe A.

Your Welcome Cougar.
I just downloaded it off that site and saved it. Also put it on my "myspace site". Try to save it to your hard drive. Should work.
