Very nice Mark some great photos in there. Geez how times have changed And those F-89's... they look great flying, small as they are up there. Yea, stupid officers... what were they thinking? :

and just a little footnote... George went on to become a g.s. 13 squadron operation officer in the 1369 AVS at vandenberg afb. who in 1974 offered a g.s.5 lab tech at mcchord the lab chiefs job after the det. flunked the o.r.i. that year...i always like him...very quite, friendly, and competent.

Great clip. In previous Forum threads there had been mention of the sole test firing of a live Genie; and here it is! No mention of the pilots in the 2 planes though :confused

I think the second airplane in the clip flying in trail behind the F-89 is a B-57. The F-89 that fired the MB-1 currently resides on a stick by the Montana ANG base at Great Falls.

I remember the story made lots of news back then, and was in magazines, as well as newsreels.
The video clearly shows the chase plane is a B-57.
No other plane had a wing like it.
The story says both planes are F-89s, but is wrong.
Only the Scorpion fired a Genie, as stated on this forum in an earlier post.
