I recieved this from Marsha this morning.
Jim Too
:god_bless_usa
..... I also received a very nice card from someone on your site it brought tears to my eyes.
Thank you so much for being there for both Steve & I it was wonderful to also see all the cards pouring in every day, he would get so excited and have a smile on his face every day because of them. The Dr’s and nurses also always had to ask about them and how he’s the only one they have ever seen get so many cards, the walls were covered in them.
Marsha

I had no idea he was sick. Sometimes I'm not able to get here regularly but when I saw this thread, I was immediately saddened. I enjoyed his posts and seemed like the kind of person who is a good friend. That is verified by all the comments on the funeral home guest book. There were 18 pages when I visited and left a few comments. I know he will be missed. I have added Steve and his family to my daily prayer list.

I have said this here before, or words to the same effect.. Some of you guys have never ever met another SIXER after you got out, retired or what ever... Some have met up in Korea, others in Texas, Ohio, Michigan, Sacramento, Colorado Springs, Castle and in Payson and at the Payson airport. There appear to be 4-6 of you guys in Washington, some within a few miles of each other... WHY IN HELL haven't you made the effort to get together before your group gets any smaller? Gene, Ernie, Diamondback, Gary, GW and one or 2 more that don't come to mind......... The Old Sarge

Excellent question, Jim. I asked my old prof once if there was any kind of organization for 318th alumni and family, and he said the closest to it was 25th Air Division-wide.
I'd suspect it's equal parts logistics, and a bit of a Mexican Standoff with each waiting for somebody else to make the first move and start pitching ideas. This is just a WAG, though... REALLY wish I coulda been in town and made something happen when Don was out here.

Diamondback, you guys that I mentioned can do this amongst yourselves.......Want to get organized? contact Pat Perry, he has always busted his balls for F-106 things and people.... I could always make a clock for the Washington State Association of F-106ers!!!!!!!!!!!!

True, Jim, I was just saying inertia kinda sets in after a while... and I accept my share of responsibility for this. There've been times that I've thought about putting together a meetup proposal, and if I coulda made it for Don Fletcher's visit I woulda posted something up about "WA Sixers, meet at 0057 at X time, Be There Or Be Square", but being a "Legacy Member" of the community can be a bit of a handicap as I'll need a sponsor onto the base... not all of us get to serve, after all. Already drafting a PM to Bullhunter...
Sometimes, some of us just need a little nudge to get us moving.

I have no idea how many F-106 or ADC folks live in Western Washington or the Pacific Northwest. Or how many might be interested in a get together. It might be interesting to do roll call to see who is in the general area and who might be interested in getting together. Its late in the year and we should talk about maybe a get together next summer at McChord. They have a nice shelter at the air park with a BBQ. Its my understanding now that the Army controls the grounds & you need to reserve that shelter months in advance or a year. The Museum building also has a shelter next to it. A get together for us might be fun and folks who have never been to Washington might come and combine it with a vacation. Lots to see here. This could also be a rememberance meeting for the members we have lost like Steve. If anyone is interested we should start a thread in the proper subject area and get feedback on who wants to talk about this get together. Attachments:
