I'll bite!!!
I think it takes at LEAST three! And very possibly more! As an MA-1 "Weenie" this reminds me of "Steering Dot" replacements and "Fallopian Tube" checks!
I'll bite! Or I'll drink to that!

In case you didn't know!!! The steering dot calibration was a very intense, nerve-wracking, complicated process. Many things were involved and ALL parameters had to be checked and had to be set "Just Right" other wise the steering dot would NOT be right for the pilot. It would not be the correct size if , for instance, the Pilot had selected "Lead Pursuit" as an attack mode and had inadvertently selected RADAR missles, with the nose/tail switch in the tail position. Things like this had to be taken VERY SERIOUSLY! Otherwise tragic events would occur! That is another story! Right now, its time for another of those "Green Beers" or at least some beer in a green bottle! Good Night "Ya'll !" MArv ;D

Best I recall, if you used a ZIPPO,the one in the lighter would suffice.........Now if you had asked me how many fatique hatfull of snow it took to put out the fire that the Bendix comb starter would create in the Duece engine bay (after the fire guards ran away) the answer is four and a lot of expletives deleted abut the intelligence level of the idiot that bled ? the fuel flask..........Needless to say, I dinna share me green bottle o beer with him.....
