All,

I'm getting ready to make a display of an F-106 with ground crew and pilot standing nearby.

A question if you don't mind...

Most of the photographs I have seen of 106 pilots has them in orange flightsuits. I know the sage green suits were used later but I've always associated the orange suit with the six so that is what I plan to paint. What model and color were the flight jackets? MA1? Blue or Sage Green?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Then there's this famous photograph from 1961 of the Mercury astronauts. Interestingly the three USAF pilots are all wearing green flight suits and the Navy pilots are all wearing orange! I think all seven of them have on different boots as well!

Mark,

Thank you very much for the reference photos!!!! They are very helpful.

I admit to be a little surprised however as I always the understanding that the MA1 jackets prior to (say) 1966 were as likely to be blue as they were green in the ADC. I don't have any photos to confirm this which is why I inquired.
