Sometimes it's best to ask the old experts, right?

It was a very warm and sunny day here in Ohio yesterday. As I was out walking in the woods behind my house I looked up and saw what I think was a B-1RD flying by. It was bright red in color and I believe it was Ohio's State B-1RD, the Cardinal.

Iber 1568, Sure looks like a 539 FIS patch. Were you there? We're almost the same age, wonder if you might have been there when I was. I was in the Instrument/Electric shop?

That would have been quite a mod to the 6 since the gun used on the A-10 is a 30mm and the whole system is about the size of a VW Beetle. The gun used on the 106 was a 20mm similar to the one used on the 104, 105, 15 and 16. It was also us on some Navy ships as the Phalanx.

Ralph has one of the guns at Castle, and a correction- the "fleet" was not modified, only a few were modified..... The Old Sarge

I have found a source for 1/48th scale Monogram F-106s. I havent' bought anything from them but they appear to be ok. They are not what you would call cheap. Nice to be here again. They are "oldmodelkits.com" They have models I have never heard of. Probably any plastic model you can think of. Cheers.

Actually, I used to find them surprisingly cheap on the last run at my local Kmart and Fred Meyer. Maybe I've been spoiled by newer kits with much less visible tooling wear and virtually no parts warping, but... I'm sorry, this is one subject and scale in dire need of retooling--said AS somebody who has one on his bench; even the Hasegawa 1/72 which isn't much younger and may actually even be a little older seemed to drop together better in my building experience.
