HOwdy Trigger! I sure happy to see a new face here! Along with some of the OLD ones! (HEHE!!)) ;D Your tail numbers are correct. Forget what Mark said about that "60" representing a 1960 model. If you look at all the tail numbers, there were originally 5 digits in the tail number scheme. For instance yours, a 1956 model the tail number was 60459. My favorites machine was 90094! I bet PAt has that one in his memory as well! The 57's were the strange numbers, cause there were lots of the 4 digit tails, and quite a few "B" models, like 72509. 1958 models were a little far between for me. Most of the last series, the 1959 models were quite mixed. If there would have been a 1960 model, then the tail number would have been "0"0459 Later as the airframe aged, the 10 year mark was added by preceding the tail numbers with another "0" Like in 090094. I thought I would never see that, but I did! Hope that clears up a few things for ya! Never been to "Tennessee" but hope to get there in the not to distant future! A "Green Beer" fer ya! I'm waiting to see those pictures of the finished product! MArv

Different style Marv! When they put the little AF in front of the last three, the two little numbers under the AF are the last two numbers of the year. Now I hate to use the "T" abbreviation, but that was (and still is) a TAC thing.
So... 56-0459 would be painted as
AF 56459
Of course the AF would be right on top of the '56' but I can't figure out how to do that in this message box!
Anyway, look at some pics of tails of F-4s, F-105s, A-7s, etc., and other contemporary TAC fighters and you'll see what I mean.

Sorry Mark I stand corrected on the TAC designations. I'm glad I wasn't part of that show! Goes to show that even an "Old Dog" can learn new tricks. In the ADC days, we ignored the SAC, TAC, MAC, AFCS, ETC, and many others and just did it right! Our way! My last years in Air Training Command caused the brain to go stale! HEHEHE!!! A Green Beer fer ya! MArv

OK gentlemen I'm working on a 194th FIS CA ANG and I gotta ask. Is ADC Gray available as a color? If so who makes it? I was just going to use a flat gray.

Any decent hobby shop will have it I'm sure - if they carry the Model Master line. Look for FS16473. DO NOT use a flat grey on ADC jets!! Gloss Grey is the color. Note the FS number starts with a "1". That means it's gloss. 2 = semi-gloss and 3 = flat. Mark
