Isn't that the cover for flight control stick? 083 unit for us old MA-1 types.

Found this "cockpit shroud" in the nose of my six. I can't identify it so I am seeking assistance. Looks like the floor mount for the Tactical Situation Display (TSD). Looks like there is swing room for the rudder pedals on both sides. Pat P.

:thanks
Thanks Pat, I can now visualize it. Since there are no more TSDs to be found, guess we'll have fabricate a simulated one. This will be the base for it. Woohoo! Gettin' there. :2thumbsup

lber1568 is correct. That is the cover that went over the stick base, there was a rubber boot that mounted on top of it. If anything fell in the cockpit ie scerws, nuts, FOD that where it went, usally 1 of the allen scerw that held the stick ring. Is rack in there that held the TSD? It was about 2 ft long 8 to 12 wide 2 guide pins in the back and 2 1/4" nut plates just in front of the stick.

Me being an Instrument Weenie during my Six days, my memory is a tad dusty. Didn't you have to pull the seat and "lay the stick" back to remove/install the TSD?

When we went from the 180 unit (single piece) to th 2 piece 920 181 you get them out without laying the stick back. The 083 had to be removed and Flt Control had to be pulled all the way back at engine shutdown and then you could wiggle the 181 out, still a pain.
