A conversation I overheard and photographed of two of my pets. First photo... Cat (with mouth open) - "Hey! What's that?" Second photo... Dog (with one ear down) - "How the hell do I know?" Cat (sticking tounge out) - "Stupid dog."

One of the hardest things I've done in my life I had to do last Friday. We had to put our dog Sophie to sleep. She developed cancer and was in great pain. It was very hard to do and she will be greatly missed. She went everywhere with me. Missing Sophie. Sorry guys just had to vent. I'll sort of fix it by putting it in this thread. So sorry for your loss. I have a feeling I'm not too far off from having to do the same thing with my hound dog. Maybe a year, maybe more if we're lucky. (I've always been gone when our family has lost pets in the past, so it will really be a new experience.) Mark

adart, anyone who has had to put a pet down knows what you are going through, and it ain't fun.
I had to put down two Siamese cats that were over 18 years-old, and wonderful pets, in 1978 and 1979.
Had a 20 year-old dog die at home, and had the vet put down a 12 year-old cat, and a 12 year-old dog.
We still talk about all of those pets.
When our family was together at Thanksgiving, guess what, we talked about the pets and how much it hurt to have them die, and no longer be here with us.
My sympathy for you and your family.
I don't know what is harder, to have a pet die on its own, or to have one put down.
Both hurt, a lot.
Keep the memories.

Jim Too........ Die on its own at home in the house with "his pets"..... There is always a bit of doubt about having the vet do it- but with cancer, it is best because of the pain. I lost one whose lower jaw was partially gone and we didn't know it until he shook his head hard and started bleeding- so both ways have their merit............... Jim
