Sawyer Heritage Air Museum renovation of the F-101B flown by the 62nd FIS while assigned at K.I. Sawyer AFB, MI. This aircraft has been outside for over twenty years at K.I. Time to make it pretty again. A joint 87th FIS/62nd FIS Reunion is planned for next year on July 12th in Gwinn, MI. It may not be a "Dart" but it is an interceptor. This is the last day we worked on the jet for this fall. We will resume work on May 1st, 2008. (Can't afford the heat.) The tires have been tire filled and we have a good maintenance plan for next spring. The museum purchased a new 44 foot swing gate for the airport so we wouldn't have to tow our jets across the grass any more. that delayed us getting into the hangar. Hi Jim, Send me a copy of the F-101 clock award pics and I will post them in the album with the pics that Lani sent. FYI Gang, On May 3 at the 456th Reunion at Dulles, VA we raffled off two Delta Dart desk clocks that the Old Sarge built and raised $375 for the Castle Air Museum - THANKS JIM! Jim also made a special award clock for the Chief o'the Facts, Erv Smalley which was presented at the reunion. THANKS ERV for all the work you have done! Click to see more And last but certainly not least the Old Sarge took two 456th / ADC Challenge Coins and fashioned two Bolo ties which were door prizes won by Marv Donnelly 87th FIS and Chief o'the Darts Ralph Robledo 84th FIS and CAM Restoration Team. Jim, I sure hope you know how much joy you have brought to all of us here on the forum and to the many folks who have received the wonderful pieces of art you have made over the years. The Good Lord broke the mold after he made you! Thanks, Pat P.

Well, Lani and the boys at KIS have finished the Voodoo on time and on budget! Just in time for the Combined 62nd & 87th FIS Reunion at KIS (pictures of the reunion will be posted later). Here's the final two albums on the Redoo The Voodoo Project. Click on the pictures to see the slide shows. Message from Lani: "Twenty days working 5 -6 hours a day with 5 to eight great volunteers and here's what you get! What a wonderful way to "Redoo a Voodoo." The deadline of being done by July 3rd was met and the plan to have it back on its spot by the middle of July was also met. A wonderful thanks to the K.I. Sawyer Heritage Air Museum on the former K.I. Sawyer AFB located north of Gwinn, MI and its Restoration Division for allowing alumni volunteers from both the 87th & 62 FIS to take up these two interceptor projects. Thanks also to all the other non-military volunteers who wanted to get "hands-on," you are the greatest. Just goes to show what a group of dedicated people can do when they really put their minds and bodies to it. Thanks to the "Interceptor" nation from all over the country who have gotten behind us and help get these two restorations completed. From all of us up here in DA U.P. EY! we thank you. Lani Duquette "Redoo the Voodoo" Project Team Member" You guys did a great job! Pat Perry 456th FIS
