Bob Eberle, 106 jet mech at Tyndall '80-'82. I am now the proud crew chief of 59-0010 an old Minot bird at the Aerospace Museum of California in Sacramento. My bird is in good shape however it is missing the pylons and externals. I know this is a big wish but does anyone know where I can get my hands on two of each. Balls 10 is looking kinda naked.

Hmmm. I might know the whereabouts of a pair of pylons. PM me for details.
Since you mentioned parts for a museum bird. Does anyone have a location for plastic intake covers or AB Cover? Or how about some extra round gauges for a tape cockpit?

When I found that canopy breaker on eBay I e-mailed the seller to ask him about it. He ended up joining the forum back in May, and posted this thread. forum.f-106deltadart.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=parts&thread=2460&page=1#21264He hasn't been back since. I don't know if these are any of the gauges you are looking for, and I'm sure he wants to sell them, but it's the only lead I have off the top of my head. Worth a shot? Maybe he'll negotiate. Who knows. Mark

Bob, I talked to our Master CC & Prez today. It seems that our 2 museums have had a working relationship. If you are interested in a pair of pylons, let me know. It can happen.

Did the guys at Edwards ever get the pylons and external tanks for their B-model? I seem to recall they were in search for the same parts when they were restoring 59-0158. Ack! I hope I haven't started anything! Hey? How about the folks in El Paso? Seems they would have some parts... Of course they may not want to part their collection out, but if they want to make a few bucks it might be worth it. It seems there aren't many folks willing to buy their Sixes. I don't even think the Collings Foundation has pockets that deep, especially since they have their sights set on getting a flying F-105. In my last commo with El Paso's broker; they were not interested in parting out. That was about a month ago; someone might retry.

Eventually they're either going to have to get a legitimate offer, or they'll end up scrapping, or selling parts on eBay. But what do I know? I'm not in the restoration business. Mark

I remember ACFT "010" as we called it at Minot, 5th FIS, while I was stationed there from '79-'83. It was involved in an in-flight collision with ACFT 136, and had it's entire nose cone torn off. Major Norton was the pilot at the time. he said it actually flew pretty good without the nose. It sat in the hanger for quite awhile until it was repaired. I still have an 8x10 color pic of it flying by prior to landing without the nose cone. Dan Ringo was the crew chief.

Cool Breeze, Can you scan that picture and post it or email it to MOW so he can post it (if it's over 1 meg)? Pat P.
